The koi are spawning today!!!...What a mess. Eggs everwhere...even outide the pond. It stinks, can hardly see the fish. A yearly tradition around here....the none spawners and filter get the most babies.
3 years ago I tried hatching them. OMG in a 55gal....all the eggs hatched...so many babies I couldn't see thru the tank. Raised them in too childrens pools from Wmart. Then gave them away....never again!!!

But of course I always melt down. It is fun!!

Congrats! How do the eggs get outside the pond? That would be so cool to see any pics?

While spawning the males press the female against the side of the pond or water lilies .... when she is done shooting the eggs out, she takes off and water goes flying, with some of the eggs. This goes on all day, and I have 2 more big females to go! Will try to get some pics....but they won't show much.

Ok you all!!! pic tomorrow!! eggs, fish and what was once a crystal clear pond.....lol It does clear up in a couple of days.
