So my fiance's tank is set up with two beautiful goldfish (one creamsicle ryukin and one black moor). She put me to shame and made a really awesome gradient of large gravel to small sloping to the front of the tank, I will have to get pics. My question is how to control the algae thats growing on the rocks. The tank is lit, but under 1 w/gal. The fish dig constantly and seem to keep the smaller rocks clean, but the big ones have lots of brownish green algae on them. I thought about getting algae eating fish but have heard not to mix anything with goldies. Any suggestions?

Edit: The tank is also not heated, thought I throw that in there.

You can try cutting down on the amount of time the lights are on.

There is a fish called a garra pingi pingi that is a cool water bottom feeder that would work well with the goldfish. It is very difficult to find (at least in my area), so I'm not sure if you would be able to find it.
