Shubunkin Question

I am getting 2 Shubunkin for my sister from someone I work with on Friday. My sister has a pond with other types of Goldies outside and brings them inside in the winter. These new fish have been inside in an aquarium. I live in Pennsylvania. By Friday it will be @ 65 Degrees F. in the day & in the 50 Degree range at night. My question is this .... Should I put the new fish into the pond untill they all come in for the winter or should I set up their aquarium and put them inside right away since they have been indoors all along?

Hi phinny...I would think it depends on what the temps were in their tank compared to the pond temps....shubunkins are adorable!

Thanks Shawnie. They are very cute and my Sister is very excited about having them ( and it is her B-Day) so I don't want anything to go wrong. I think I will set up their tank and put them in and try to duplicate the condition they came from right away.. I am getting the tank and I asked for a few extra gallons of the tank water and the gravel so I won't have to start cycling the tank all over.

getting some of the filter media will work even better...tank water doesnt hold too much bacteria and might throw the tank into a mini cycle where it doesnt carry enough to sustain the cycle...goodluck and get some pics if you can!

keep

Do you keep fantail or fancy goldfish? And put it first in your own tank first even if it came from China.

I got them to my sister's on Friday. I had thier gravel, tank, filter with old pad, them in a bucket and an additional 2 gallons of thier water. I brought some decorations and had some of theirs with me. They had spent the day with me at work in a bucket..they were not happy. I finally got them in the tank @ 5:30. Saw them Saturday and they were as happy as could be...they stick together. My sister loves them. They are Beauties!
My sister has Fancy goldfish in a pond. They stay out untill November then come in . I am getting her a 30 gallon for her Birthday... then they will all be together.
