Biggery (Goldfish) has red streaks
OK all you fish-keepers out there -- Biggery, my 7" two yr old goldfish, was subject to a double whammy of Flexobacter head fuzz and septicemia. Bad Fish-Mom = dirty tank [ sorry Biggs]. He's in Isolation, being treated with Maracyn for the fuzz, & Maracyn 2 for the septicemia, as well as daily 50% water changes. It's been a week -- The fuzz is gone, but he still has a red streak on his tail.
The main tank is back to balance, thanks to two 50% water changes and the Python Gravel Vacuume.
There are 3 other goldfish - Speedy, Skulker & Greedy Gut [carnival winnings!!] in the main tank. They are all less than 1/2 his size eventho they are the same age. Amazingly, they took little harm from the dreadful water conditions.
The Questions are ---
Because the septicemia was triggered by Ammonia poisoning, how long to I have to keep him in the hopsital tank? He's active, eating and really wants to go home to his other little fish buddies, but he still has 1 inflamed blood vessel on his tail.
AND -- Do I keep treating him with Maracyn 2 until the red streak is gone, OR will daily 50% water changes suffice?
