question about my goldfish?

hi, im new to fishlore.com and im glad to be here.

two days ago my goldfish got stuck sideways at the mouth of the whisper filter in my 1.5 gallon tank (i know, way to small but im getting a better place). he didnt actually go IN the filter, but he was stuck sideways at the mouth. i lift the filter up and there he goes twirling and flipping in the tank. i was so worried. by the end of the day he healed somehow, and he was good for the next day too. i wake up this morning and he is sitting there with his back bent. i haven't put the filter back in but i am doing a 50% water change daily. now my goldfish is lethargicly sitting with a bent back. he got a bite of food but that's about it. ive been trying to feed him by putting the flake in front of his face and he hardly is ever able to ACTUALLY get a bite. i noticed he has a few little black spots on him...more and more. there aren't any other fish in his tank. the ph is 6.8. at least on the first day he was trying really hard by swimming/flipping, and he got better. its just that now he does practically nothing. he got a little more active throughout the day tho. im really worried. anything i need to get i will buy just maybe not tomarro but the next day. i will try my very hardest i swear. i will NOT flush him. i believe in working on the slightest chance and never killing anything unless there is absolutely no hope.

p.s. how do i check for answers on my post im new to fishlore sorry

Welcome to fishlore!

I'm not sure what your poor fish could currently be going through. I remeber I had an event with a half dead female betta and she progressively got better, give them time and they should get better. to check answers simply go to the "my posts" tab above the messages.

Hi fishluver welcome to Fish Lore

I'm really sorry your goldy got hurt.

You already know you need a larger tank, just look at the profile for the recommended size.

try buying a low power air pump and putting a small bubbler stone at the end of the hose. trust me, ive had similar experiences. to check for answers just go to my threads button on the second to top bar.

The fact that a fish as strong as a goldfish got stuck to the filter input suggests that it was already weak.
I would get a cheap sponge filter (runs off of an air pump) in order to begin filtering the water. You're going to want as good of water quality as possible. Keep up the 50% water changes, but this will slowly detoxify the ammonia in the water, making breathing more comfortable for your little guy.

If, at any point, it looks like he won't make it, please do not flush him alive. There are better ways of euthanizing a fish, and the folks around here will be willing to help you with that if you feel it becomes necessary.

awwww poor goldy. If anything is to be kept in a 1.5 gallon tank, it might as well be snails or shrimp. Did I read right or did you have two goldfish?
