My Little Gordie is not doing well :(
When i come home from work today, i noticed that my favorite little lion head gold fish, Gordie was not doing well.
he was laying over in a corner and not his usually happy, wiggly self.
opon closer inspection he seemed to have a little cloudy film on his forhead. best i could diagnose was maybe a fungus.
i treated the tank with anti fungal meds and a water change as indicated with the meds. water parameters are fine.
OMG, i hope he makes it....he's the life and fun of that tank and my cherished little guy.
can anyone think of anything else i can do for him? (he's not bloated or anything like that, just hiding in the corner.)

This could possibly be a bacterial infection NOT fungal and antifungals will not work, look up columnaris which mimics fungus and needs to be treated with antibiotics

Q: The fish's skin has a hazy white covering over it in patches. It looks like a fungus, but anti-fungal treatments do not work.
A: This is a called Columnaris Disease and is caused by gram-negative bacteria.
Treatment: Use TMP-Sulfa -or- Sulfa 4 TMP -or- Triple Sulfa Powder.

"Velvet disease, also called gold dust disease is a fish disease caused by the dinoflagellate parasites of the genera Oödinium, Amyloodinium or Crepidoodinium which gives the fish a dusty, slimy look. The disease often infects fishes in tropical aquaria."
- Above is an extract from wiki search.
Could it be velvet? Does he look kinda slimy?
Symptoms:
Scratchs against hard objects
*Fish is lethargic
*Loss of appetite and weight loss
*Rapid, labored breathing
*Fins clamped against body
*Fine yellow or rusty colored film on skin
*In advanced stages skin peels off
Initially the fish rub against hard objects trying to dislodge the parasites. As the disease progresses the fish becomes lethargic, fins are held close to the body, appetite is reduced and the fish loses weight. A key symptom is difficult breathing, resulting in rapid gilling.
The most telltale symptom is the appearance of a velvety film on the skin that looks like gold or rust colored dust. The film could be hard to spot, but can be easily seen by shining a beam of a torch on the fish in a dark room.
Just a thought?
If it is Velvet the treatemt is much the same as for Whitespot/Ich.
Treatment :
*Raise water temperature
*Dim lights for several days
*Add aquarium salt
*Treat with copper sulphate for ten days (I would advise not to dose your tank unless you really have to! - last resort)
*Remove carbon filtration during treatment
*Quarantine fish if possible

Your guy is a goldfish so I'm not sure how he'd take to this kind of treatment buy - Hey, there's no guarantee it's velvet. Just a thought when you mentioned the slimy film on his head...

Did you ever figure out why you lost your last few goldies?? Is this one in the same tank as they were? Maybe it is the same thing they had!...good luck.

he doesn't have any of these symptoms. he's not scratching or breathing hard, no rusty marks, no clamped fins (course he doesn't have much fins), he ate dinner, what ever floated by him.

today he looks weak, he's sort of bobble swiming around, getting tossed by any current. the white patches are gone, but he's still not himself.
one thing i noticed last nite, when i got home, he had a long thin stringy poo, like a hair hanging out him. i just thougt it was poo.
then when i went to bed, he had another one, just a few hours later. normally their poos are a little chunkier.
sorry for the graphics, just trying to figure out whats wrong with my baby.

That sounds like an internal parasite, I've heard Dave recommend Prazipro. I hear parasite clear works well.
I hope Gordie feels better soon.
Edit: You might want to move him to a QT tank for treatment, if no other fish are showing symptoms. If they are, treat the whole tank.
