So I've been tossing around the idea of getting my 55 gallon tank out and getting some goldfish. I've been doing a little research and can't seem to find an exact number on how big they get... I've gotten answers from 6 inches to 23. I'm not sure if I want to get fancy ones or common feeder goldfish. How many would I be able to have without it being overstocked?
Any other tips on goldfish would be appreciated... I haven't kept them in 10 years... and when I did have them, I knew NOTHING about them. (the horrors of an uneducated fish owner! ) Tips on decor, substrate, water changes, etc...

Well, i can't help you on the technicalities, as i'm no good at that stuff. (my hubby handles all that)

But i can tell you, i like to mix em up. usually a comet, a common, a fan tail, an oranda and a lionhead, a mixture of colors and shape and sizes.

i did have a couple get swimbladder from floating flakes, so now i soak their flake food before putting it in the thank, so it sinks and that seems to have helped. i tried sinking pellets, but they didn't care for that, they like the flake the best.

Hmm... Try Minx's idea! Mix em' all together. But my advice, a fan tail and an oranda would look great!
