I have a Black Moor who's buddy(Koi) just moved to a pond. Now he is acting all freaked out and I was wondering what type of fish would make a good tank mate for him?

We usually recommend 20g for the first goldfish and 10g for each additional goldfish because they produce so much waste. That said-
Because of the body shape of a Moor they don't compete for food with faster fish very well. Most of the minnow family can handle the cooler water goldfish need but they are too fast and the Moor would never get to eat.
Dojo Loaches appreciate cooler water and would be a bottom feeding fish so no competition for food. The water would have to be kept especially clean because Loaches are sensitive to water quality.

oh ok how big do dojo loaches get? and i guess i should look at getting a bigger tank what size should i look for?

very funny. all the tanks i have i got off of craigslist for free. i'm on a college student budget i.e. ramen noodles and beer. any helpful suggestions?

lol yea if i'm too broke to buy ramen people call me an alcoholic. i think i will start to save up and get a big tank but at my rate that will take a year or so. unless craigslist comes through again and hooks me up.

they come in so many colors and varieties, pick a cute one for your moors friend.

not sure his tank could hold the bio load for another cute goldie..20 gallons would be pushing it for two

pictus catfish are cool and are bottom feeders..although mine are pigs and have come to the top as well...

hardest thing is with goldies, and a 20 gallon, thats about the reccomendation for just one

I got an extra 20 gallon filter that I can steal *err* borrow from my roommate. Would the additional filtration help with the load or is it the amount of water that decides that?

double filtration, with weekly water changes, might work...depending on what kind of goldie ya get....wouldnt the roomie want it back tho?
