size of Goldfish

Are there any gold fish that are under 1"?
My husband is thinking about a goldfish for his 1gal tank.

None that I've ever heard of get under 8 inches.

many people keep goldfish in a small bowl, which is not right, they r heavy waste producers and need at least a 10g, my girlfriend kept a goldfish in a bowl but when its condition was getting worse she returned it and bought a guppy for the bowl.

You may want to look for a fish called a "Rosy Red" Some pet Stores sell them as feeders. There not really Goldfish, there actually minnows, but there close enough a lot of people can't tell the difference and the largest I've ever seen was about 3 inches and it was in a 90 gallon tank. That *might* work if he's set on a "Goldfish"

The only fish that could go into a 1 gal tank is maybe a small female betta. Not ideal for the fish, but doable if you don't mind doing 100% water changes every few days.

actually, goldfish only get to the size of their tank. Koi keep growing no matter what size the space.
They are quite dirty though so be careful. You will have to clean it alot.
For one fish, I'd recommend a fantail. They do have a greater variety of colors, they aren't as active as the single finned-for a 1g anyway, and they have a fuller body.

I'm not putting any fish in the 1G, I cleaned it REAL GOOD and am now using it as a big candy bowl/dish.

Good idea...I used mine to hold change in. I had a betta in it.

OR you could put Pepperidge Farm "Gold fish" in it!

I hope you can find something else that would be suitable in size, sounds like a great idea for a Christmas present for your husband.
