what size goldfish should I start out with in a ten gallon tank or does it even matter?

What's often quoted on this site is 20G for your first goldfish, and another 10G per goldfish. Dont' know if this is theory of actual demands, though.

im thinking about getting 1 fancytail goldfish and 2 corys to go along with it in my ten gallon tank would this be okay or would it still be overstocked?

the 10G is too small for goldfish. They are such heavy waste producers that larger tanks are recommended for them. The goldfish temp requirements and the Corys temp requirements don't match. The goldfish needs cooler water than the Corys.
