My Glowlight tetra

Hey,

I have a weird looking fat glowlight tetra. I've had it for a few months already and all my glowlights looked fine! But now I have one glowlight that looks pregnant or something. But it's been like this for more than 3 weeks. The stomach has a red swolling spot. So I don't think it's pregnant. I've checked my water parameters and everything seems fine! I don't know what's wrong. I put him/her in my quarantine tank so it doesn't effect my other fish....

The fish MAY be pregnant, but I'm not quite certain about it. It MIGHT be suffering some problems on it's stomach such as constipation.

Tetras are egg layers so tecnically they aren't pregnant they are gravid. A gravid glowlight should appear plump. nicely rounded while the males stay more slender with only a slight rounding to the belly. If there is a red spot to the swelling then I say it is a problem. It could be some kind of tumour or infection going on to cause the swelling. It is best to keep it in the quarentine tank until you know for sure what it is. Good luck.
