How Many?

I am currently doing a science fair project on the nitrogen cycle, where I have three one gallon tanks and am cycling them all different ways.
But once I'm done, I will have three empty, cycled tanks. I know not much can go in such a small tank, so I was thinking a ghost shrimp in each, heavily planted.
I have a couple of questions-
1. How many shrimp could fit in the tank?
2. I think I read that they like to burrow, so I'm getting sand, is that right?
3. If I'm right about the sand, should I get some MTS to keep it clean? Would the shrimp eat the MTS?
4. If I shouldn't get MTS, would vacuuming the sand disturb their burrows?
5. And would any other shrimps (cherry, amano, bamboo) fit in these tanks?

Thanks in advance!

Ghost shrimp would work, and my ghost's don't bother my snails. Both of my tank with ghost shrimp have sand substrate, but the funny thing is I've never seen the shrimp burrow even though I read that they do.

Same Question

I was wondering this too. How many shrimp can one keep in a ten gallon tank that is already full of fish? I have heard that they don't count against the bioload/mass, but I would worry about them not getting enough food or being crowded.

I've heard of people keeping really large amounts in 10 gallon tanks, but I havn't found an exact stocking rule anywhere. I think I'm just going to put one or two in each.

Cherrys or Yellows would work in your 1gallon tanks, and stocking a shrimp tank depends more on floor space more then gallons
