Advice-- will it work

I have never had shrimp but I hear that they are great cleaners. My tank is planted and has a school of danios and 2 ottos. Would they be ok tank mates and is there anything I should know about these critters.

Ghost shrimp are a great addition to almost any tank.
They should work fine with yours. Fun little critters.

Pretty much the only risk you take with ghost shrimp is of your fish eating them.

I was thinking of adding angelicous botia, they are small loaches.... I wonder if they would eat the shrimp.... I was only going to get them if I got a snail infestation.... because I just added live plants.

I would highly reccomend the loaches! They are soooooo much fun to watch and they have great personality. I am not sure about the shrimp, but my yo yo's chase after everything in the tank, and have gotten every snail except the initial one(I think it is too big) i would think shrimp would be slow moving, and fair game, but maybe someone with shrimp experience will answer you. Good luck, and again, I would reccomend the loaches even if you do not get a sail infestation! The following video is my yo yo's playing in the bubbles!

I had yoyo's before-- my brother has them now. Their names are Fat Eddie and Sweet Lou because it was their job to "off" the snails...lol. I can't find any yoyo's at and LFS now, that is why I was going to get the other kind

Shrimp are AWESOME! Really cool to watch!

If you're on a budget, and just want a ton of the little guys, go for ghosties. They're cheap and do a pretty good job of cleaning left over food (and a little bit of poo, but don't dwell on that for too long).

If you can dump some cash into it, look into amanos or cherries - they're both usually easy to find after ghosties. Amanos are bigger, and will also deal with alot of algae. They're extremely hardy as well - I've never lost one, and I've got 15 between two tanks. Cherries are more visually appealing, but they tend to be reclusive (as do ghosties).

Both cherries and ghosties are supposed to be prolific breeders. I've got scads of baby cherries crawling around, but I've never seen any baby ghosties.
