How to care for ghost shrimp fry?

Oh, well hello there!

We have four ghost shrimps in our 20-gallon freshwater community tank and seem to be happy with their new home. A week later I spotted a large female that suddenly became foggy-white in color and have lots of eggs on her swimmerets. She looks happy to be pregnant, and I'm planning to raise her fry. We have a quarantine tank to isolate the fry, but I unfortunately do not know how to take care of them. Do you know where I can learn how to raise ghost shrimp fry? Can you teach me?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know how to raise them but you are going to want to get a spunge to cover the intake tube so that they don't get sucked up into the filter. I have a fry nursery and I have one over the filter intake.

they should be fine as long as you cover the intake tube like heartsongsinger said, and that there are plenty of hiding spots so that they dont become fishes' dinner . What I have understood is that they will eat leftovers in the bottom of the tank, someone please correct me if i am wrong.

Thank you very much!

I also read that they need really small food for them to eat. Thanks for the advices. I'll use a sponge filter in the fry tank.

Thanks again!

They do eat leftovers. They are kind of like the snails in that you can measure how well you are feeding the tank by their population. If you are feeding too much they will multiply fast. If you want less of them you feed less.

Lettuce leaves are good for them. Zucchini is good for them. (Both removed after about 12 hours is what most people do.)

1 algae wafer or 2 small pellets every couple of days is good for them.

Alessa = correct!
