As far as fish, if they're big enough they will eat the shrimp as if candy were living in the tank with them. As far as shrimp some, if not all, types of shrimp are territorial. so if your tank isn't big enough they will fight until only one is left. Hope this helped, just post anymore questions you have, anyone would be happy to help.

Yes, not all shrimps are peaceful, but most of them are.

The ghost shrimp is peaceful, but if it's tankmates are very peaceful, they will think, "I think I'm going to nip that". They killed my guppy!

But majority of the shrimps are peaceful.

We have some non-territorial small ones, but that arises the afore mentioned problem of being eatten if the fish if given the chance.

HI FDF, WELCOME to FISHLORE!

Good Question.

I have two tanks with shrimp. One has Ghost shrimp, 3 and they get along and have been in there for over a year. To start they hid under driftwood/ rocks/shells. The fish are medium to fairly large. Biggest is a red rainbow about 5 "....this tank has gourami's , rainbows, corys a bn pleco...they get along fine with the shrimp. Now that the shrimp are larger, they swim around with the fish and are not always hidden.

The second tank has cherry red shrimp and small fish. neon rainbows, dwarf corys, platies and molly fry. The crs have multiplied, and have gone from 25 purchased to over 300! in about 6 months.....There is lots of java moss for the shrimp, it catches food particles and this works as cover for the shrimp as well..

Remember brine shrimp ARE FOOD, so any shrimp in the tank has to be big enough not to look like food to the fish in the tank.
