But tidal fishing is something else, its like my super camping trip for the year, taking a couple weeks off, and going to the charlottes. I usually go the first couple weeks in July, and spend the hole time feasting and fishing. Setting out crab and prawn traps before going out doing a days fishing and coming back in and relaxing. Nothing beats feasting on crab and fish, and watching the whales come in and playing in the sounds etc.
If you like tidal fishing I personally think its the best place in BC for it, there are lots of places to do it in BC, but its so nice and natural their. You can go out and do your salmon or ling cod fishing off the banks, or get offshore a bit and jig for halibut etc, there is just everything there. And tons of Eagles, Bears, Deer, and whales everywhere, and the scenery is amazing tons of old mossy ancient looking forests etc.

i've never done any tidal fishing, the closest i;ve come is fishing for strippers in a lake 15 minutes from the ocean in north carolina. i;ve got one of the best trout rivers in ontario 45 minutes from me, but it probably nothing compared to what you have out there. halibut would be awesome to fish, again huge, would wear you down, but it would be worth it, do you have grouper out there too?

MrWaxhead, im very jealous that you're out in bc and get to catch those guys in their prime out in the ocean, i just get to catch the bronze and black ones that come in to spawn. one of these days im going to take a 2 week fishing trip out there for the rainbow and salmon. sadly i don't know my salmon species very well, is that a chinook?
|
Yeah, I know the bald eagles here are NOT native. The ospreys are, but not the bald eagle. But they do keep permanent nests, and unless it gets zapped by lightning or blown down in a storm, they'll keep using the same nest year after year. They tend to show up around november and stay until april or when the babies can fly. Oh, and the closest I've been is when I was at the port hudson marina last year, and one was on a pole only about 20 feet away watching me work. Most birds scatter when I turn on the truck pump, but he never budged. He just glared at me the whole time.

I know they get huge, i would love to come up there some year and try my luck. The biggest thing I've caught here was I latched into a beautiful 32 inch or so red behind a friends house. I don't know what it weighed (we didn't have a scale), but it filled all of us up that night...hehehe
