Squish Squish goes the carpet...

Ok so not really a squish squish sound yet but it's definitely damp. I didn't notice anything unusual when I got home last night (other then the light in the tank being burnt out) but this morning the book bag I'd left beside it was "damp" on the bottom, the sliding doors on the stand are swollen and unmoveable and a bit of exploration has revealed that I do indeed have a seeping leak on the bottom front corner of the tank.

I love this tank, it's was the first big tank I've gotten but this is probably the worst time ever for it to pop a seam on me. I'm in the middle of making though calls about what's going to be moving to the new apartment with me and now I need to fix this. Better to find out here then in the new place but at the same time....

Aw, I'm sorry Red. What a bummer!

Let me know if you need any advice on resealing. You will need to strip all the seals from the inside before you get started. When it rains it pours- what a rotten time to have a leak when you're trying to plan a move!

It really is rotten since I don't really have a back up tank for my RTS either right now. All my other tanks are either coldwater or betta tanks Guess I'll be digging out a rubbermaid tub for a couple of days.

And harpua I'll be keeping your offer in mind. I'm in an apartment so a leaky tank isn't a good thing. It's a framed tank so hopefully that will make it easier to repair...

oh no! red that really sucks I hope all goes well. The rubbermaid tub sounds like a good idea.

I'm sorry Red I just re-sealed two leaking tanks, so I know where you're coming from.

Harpua2002 gave some fabulous advice to me on re-sealing.

I wish you lived closer. I could give you a "loaner" tank and re-seal it for you.

The best advice I can offer is the rubbermaid. That would keep you from having to handle the tank situation with everything else until you have a little more free time on your hands.

Please let us know however we can help and know you're in our thoughts

Thanks everyone.

I've come up with a slightly better solution then the rubbermaid tub.

I've "torn down" the 20 gal and everything but the two filters and the gravel has been transfered to the 56 goldfish tank. The Cory's are happy (I think I can only find 2 of them now) and the WCMM look confused but seem content. I moved Red, his plants, and his driftwood to the 20 gal, it's a tight fit but hopefully now I can drain and empty his tank and repair it between now and the move. Tearing down the 20 was something that I was sort of planning anyway with the move so this just moved the time table up a bit.

Just draining everything now.

P.S. Red's canister filter and box filter were moved onto the 56 in the mean time.

Oh Red...this is my nightmare come true. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. My apartment managers were reluctant to let me have any tank at all, so I fear having to tell them if any of them leak! Hope this all works out for you soon.

Oh no, I hope you get all this sorted, sounds like Harpua and BB have your back, go girls!!!
It's great you had the last minute back up plan, I'm now thinking of emergency situations and am thinking of stocking up on plastic tubs too (1 as a quarantine at least...)

Best of luck with it, I know you'll let us know how it goes.
