My hubby has MTS!!!

As most of you know, Mike got his first fish (one of Karen's bettas) on Tuesday. He's already wanting to set up another tank

I have rehomed all but one of my fish from my big tanks. The only fish I have left is my female salvini because she was too hard to catch and ended up hiding inside of a decoration when I netted all of the other fish.

Well yesterday he asked me if we could set up a small tank just for her because she is one of his favorites. Lol, I don't know what to tell him. We are going to be living with my parents for two months and I am already going to have to bring all of the bettas with us. I don't know if we can bring another tank over as well. I could easily get my hands on a cheap 20 gallon long, so price is not an issue, I just don't know how practical it is to set up this tank when we are going to be moving twice in the next 5 months. I would like to keep her too, but I don't know how practical it is.

I like the way Mike thinks

20g's are not hard to take down and set back up, even 3 times in a few months.

Salvini's are very beautiful fish.

I say keep the Salvini. I think it'll make things a little easier on you if you do

Thanks BB, I think so too

I wasn't thinking that it would be hard to take down, I was more thinking that I don't know how much my parents are going to tolerate, lol. We are going to be moving into their spare bedroom with a million bettas and a cat. I don't know if they'll go ballistic if I ask if we can add in the 20 gallon as well. I'd like to keep it, but at the same time, we are going to be living there for free and they are doing us a huge favor, so I don't want to take advantage of their generosity. I could always re-home the salvini, get the 20, and set it up for Mike in July when we settle into our new place...

Where are you moving to in the San Diego area? Does the Salvini need a temporary home or something?

Take Mom and Dad out to dinner once a week and dont mention it they already must be ready for the bettas. Or mention it like she/he is another cat dog etc. you cant part with poor fluffy or rover. I am sure they will understand and appreciate a night out. I know what it can be like I moved all of my fish so MOM and my sister could live in my basement. At the time only 40 tanks but it did boost the MTS when there was more room in the house I built to put them. LOL

Brian,
We will be moving in with my parents in Escondido during May and June and then to our own place after that. We may not be staying in the San Diego area... I'm not sure of the details yet. That's why keeping fish (besides bettas, which are easier to move around and take up less space) is kind of on hold for us right now.

Do you maybe have someone who could take care of it for you on a temporary basis?
I grew up in Escondido! Lived there most of my life and now I am only about 35 mins from there. Small world!

That's a good idea, but there are a few problems...

1) Nope I haven't mentioned the bettas yet. I know they don't mind, but its already going to be hard having the cat there since they have 3 huge dogs who are not "cat friendly".

2) They already know all of my animals so I can't pass her off as another dog/cat.... Especially since they know we are finding new homes for our doggies before we move.

I grew up there as well. What high school did you go to? Small world is right. I'll consider maybe finding a temp home for the Sal. That may be a good compromise

I went to San Pasqual it looks like 4-5 years before you went to high school so we just missed each other even if it was the same or different schools.

Hope you can find someone to take care of the sal. Keep us posted!
