Condensing the fish tanks...

Ok so I wasn't sure where to put this (betta Fourm, DIY, or where) hopefully it'll work here.

Here's what's going on. I am currently running:
1 - 32 Gallon tropical tank
1 - 56 Gallon coldwater goldfish tank
1 - 20 Gallon coldwater tank
1 - 10 Gallon Betta tank
3 - 5 Gallon Betta tanks
1 - 5 Gallon flatback hex tank

I have a 3 gallon square tank that will be set up soon... Two 2.5 gallon tanks in my storage room... and a 5 hex sitting on my kitchen cupboard empty at this time.

I'm moving into a basement suite next month and (unfortunately) it's only a little over half the space that I have now. This means that I'm "downsizing" everything I currently have up in the city with me. This means that the fish need to take up a tiny bit less space.

The 32 and 56 both have their own stands and hoods. I know I can move the inhabitants from the 20 gallon over to the 56 without issue (would have a final stocking of 3 goldfish, 3 bronze cory's, and 7 WCMM). My red tail shark is in the 32 Gallon and he doesn't really "Play Nice" with anyone so he'll remain as is.

That leaves the Betta's...I have a couple of idea's there:
Idea #1: Purchase 3 more ten gallon tanks and silicone a piece of glass in the center of each to act as a divider. (Sorry I hate the look of the white mesh, I've tried it but I can't stand it) Then place a betta and filter on each side (air driven filters mean they could all be powered with only 1 or two air pumps).

Idea #2: Pick up 4 more 5 gal rectangular aquariums so that each would be the same size and could be "stacked" in a tower like stand.

EDIT: Idea #3: Downsize everyone to 2.5 Gallon tanks...

Now for those counting you'll notice I'm two tanks extra in each Idea. That's because I have 2 betta's being shipped up to me from a breeder in Ontario so they need to be fit into this shindig as well.

Regardless I suspect that I'll have to build a stand with either option but if that's what I gotta do...

Ok so feedback, idea's, comments. All welcome and needed.

Thanks everyone and sorry for the wall of text...

Downsizing stinks doesn't it.

Anyways, if you go with the divided 10 gallons, it will probably be easier to find the space for them. You could even get the stand that holds one tank on top and one on the bottom. The 2.5 gallons look better IMO, but you will need more counter space to fit them all. It kinda depends on what your new place is like. Congrats on your two new bettas though. I bet you're so excited for them to come

Thanks Kate

Downsizing does stink. Moving tanks every 12 months does as well though
I am really excited to get the new babies but the seller and I are having some technical difficulties. She couldn't ship this week due to work, I'm gone most of next week for the break. So I pretty much won't get them until the last week of Feb it's looking like

What a pain, Red!
All the plans look like good alternatives.
I like # 1 and 2. I know, big help. lol

Like Kate said, it really depends on the floor plan.

Best of luck

Thanks

Here's a rough floor plan not really to scale but you can sort of see what it'll be like

I personally might be inclined to do the 5 gallons.
