| Moving Fish out of 5 gal Bucket back to tank I posted sometime last week on the power outage thread about how we had lost power for several days and I was finally able to move my fish from their 10 gallon tank to a 5 gallon bucket at my office. I have their filter and heater in the bucket and everything seems fine, but I have been experiencing green cloudy water and a slightly fishy smell in it. I have been doing 25% water changes once or twice a day, but I can't really tell much about what is going on since it is not see thru and I can only look in from the top.
We have electricity at the house again, but I haven't moved the fish yet because their tank got REALLY gross from sitting there without filtration for a week. It started smelling like raw sewage so we used the gravel vac to get out as much of the stuff as we could and then removed and rinsed the gravel and scrubbed out the tank itself. It is now sitting empty and dry waiting for me to bring the fish and filter back. Will it be okay for me to fill it up with new treated water and put the filter back on it and everything since it has been running in the bucket? I guess I am just looking for advice about the best way to go about all of this and what I should be doing. Thanks! |
