| Use for Betta Bowl I still have my mother's betta bowl. She doesn't want it back. It's sitting on my kitchen table annoying me
I want to do something creative with it. Like grow a plant in it or something like that. I thought it would be cool to have it support life that would actually be a proper environment.
Does anyone have any ideas? |

| Get some amazon sword plants, lol, I like them. Did you know that bamboo plants shouldn't be submersed in water like people think they should? I was told that on another forum, yet I still keep one in my 2g betta bowl lol. |

| You could grow a pothos plant in it, they grow long vines. I have some that I keep in my 10 gallon with my guppies and one that is just in a pretty vase on the bathroom counter. |

| How big is the bowl? If it's large enough, I'd stick a small sponge filter in there, get some dark substrate, and do a planted cherry shrimp bowl with java fern and java moss. You could light it with a desk lamp and those plants would still grow. . Hydor makes a mini heater that might work. |

| Wowsers, you guys came up with some really cool ideas! Hmmm...I may have to see if I have another betta bowl and a goldfish bowl as well. I'm probably not going to be able to just pick one idea.
Harpua-it's the usual betta bowl, maybe 1/2-1 gallon size that's found at craft stores. I may also see if I still have my goldfish bowl from years ago.
Can you seriously keep shrimp in a non-filtered tank? If so, that's an awesome idea for my mother as well. She's been trying to find something that she can keep without filtration. |

| Cool idea, Harpua.
I would use it as a cool pen holder/"flower" arrangement:
- Fill the bottom (maybe 1/3 of the way up) with some of the flat glass marbles that you can find at Petsmart and craft stores. Then top with a layer of that moss-looking stuff in the floral department if you want.
- Get some pens you really like, some silk flowers, and green floral tape. You are basically using the pen as a "stem" for the flower.
- Cut off some of the plastic stem and throw it away. Then hold the remaining stem with the flower held up over the end of the pen (not the end you write with).
- Wrap the floral tape around and around th stem and the pen, ending just above the cap. The floral tape is just a tiny bit sticky, and will stick to itself.
- Then you put the lid on. Stick the flowers with the lids down into the betta bowl. The marbles and moss will hide the ends of the pens. You can arrange the flowers as you like.
I know that this isn't a "live" project like you want, but it is a fun way to have a flower arrangement in your office or at home. It's really easy to do, also. |

| Here's an idea for your "goldfish" bowl (a friend of mine gave me something like this for my birthday - I keep it on my desk in case anyone at work wants a snack).
Go to the scrapbooking section of Target and buy some fish stickers. Decorate the outside of the bowl with the stickers.
You can buy a box of goldfish crackers in individual-sized pouches. Use the goldfish bowl and a container for goldfish crackers. |

| I wouldn't keep shrimp without a filter, so that's why I mentioned a sponge filter as an option. If the bowl were a couple gallons or more, I'd do it, but probably not in a small bowl. Cool ideas everyone! |

| I'm planting my betta bowl with plants. The only problem I'm having, is that it is a tinted blue glass, so it doesn't let enough light in for the plants I wanted. I'm going to have to use a different plant. Oh well. I'll put up pics when I get it done. |
