Five Legged Frog!!!

So I picked up 2 more ADF's for my 10gal frog tank (5 ADF's total now) and after acclimating and plopping them in, I noticed one of the new guys has an EXTRA ARM!!! He seems to be fine though, he even went for the pellets after I dropped them in (scrawny guy...), and he has no trouble swimming, although he doesn't move the extra arm.
You guys think he'll be alright?

I am inclined to think that maybe he'll have a shortened lifespan... Inferior stock, possibly.

Aw, he's so cute! If he's eating and swimming normally, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm not familiar enough with genetics, but I would think that Meenu's comment that he may have a shortened lifespan would be correct.

But the fact that he acts like a "normal" frog says he's adjusted and it doesn't bother him so I don't think his lifespan would be shortened by too much if he is kept in excellent water conditions.

Oh wow. Best of luck with the little guy.
Maybe he'll use the extra arm to push the others out of the way during feeding time. lol

There have been a few threads about evolution lately... (I'm kidding, please don't flame me)

There have always been a few oddities in the realm of reptiles and amphibians....Don't worry.....it should live a normal life...sometimes I wish I had extra arms!!!...lol

Of course today with polution, our wild populations in areas, are being decimated and suffering from deformed bodies.

Yeah, I have heard of frogs being found with extra limbs or other deformities in highly polluted areas...I think this guy just has a bit of a genetic twist going though.

Another cause could be a parasite called a trematode.

He probably thinks the others look funny because they are missing an arm.
