Walmart fish! WOW!

Okay, so all of my local LFS pretty much suck. Well, I was at a walmart in tyler tx the other day. I walked to the fish section expecting the usual dead fish and badly kept fish tanks. Well what I saw where fish tanks in near perfect condition. All of the tanks were crystal clean, none of the fish had any signs of ick. All of the fish were alive and healthy. I went to find the person in charge of the fish and I told them how great of a job they were doing. I told them I would love to do more buisness with them if they lived near my area. The person in charge of the fish actually new a few good things. I can't believe I am saying this but, I was impressed with this walmarts fish.

Cool. We see so many bad reviews of Walmart that it is nice to see that they do well occassionally as well.

The Walmart here in Tooele is pretty good, my only complaint would be, not much of a selection.

I noticed the same thing here. Boy was I surprised. Instead of gravel in the tanks they had put something under them that looked like gravel, so the tanks were basically barebottom but looked like they had gravel in them from afar. I was very impressed with tanks and fish both. Maybe somebody is finally getting a clue about aquarium care.

Our Wal-Mart stopped stocking fish once they expanded the store, thank goodness. Prior to that, it was really pathetic and sad to see what conditions those poor fish were in.

It looked like they had put floor tile under the tanks to make them look like they had gravel in them from afar. I'm sure that makes it a lot easier to keep clean(and they were) and to catch fish as well.

I had no idea that walmart even sold fish.

My petsmart is like that - excellently maintained tanks with knowledgable staff.

I have to admit, my experience with Walmart's fish department has been the same. Filthy tanks stocked with dead or dying fish. However, I recently moved to Arlington,TX. and I was very pleasantly suprised when I saw the fish at the local Walmart. As you mentioned the tanks were clean and the fish looked very healthy. Not much of a selection but, I would rather see a small amount of healthy fish than an entire wall of sick or dead fish.
