My mom works at an elementary school and the librarian wanted to set up an aquarium. They already had a small bowl with two ADFs. Anyway, my mom called me up and asked if I wanted to do it for them since they didn't know how. It was a 10 gallon kit from Petco, so tank, filter, heater, hood and light. I set it all up and got treated the water with some AquaSafe that I brought from home.
I explained the
nitrogen cycle to the librarian and how bacteria colonies needed to be established before adding fish. I told the librarian to introduce the frogs into the tank the next day, I know it's not cycled, but it's better than the bowl they were in. With only 2 small frogs I don't think the waste will get out of control. I also told her to move the rocks and plant plastic plant into the aquarium without rinsing them and to put the gravel in some pantyhose for a week or two. She understands that she needs to wait to buy fish, tetras or something else small. I told her about SafeStart so she might go that route.
Anyway, I'll probably have my mom test the water or bring some home for me to test just to keep tabs on the tank.
