Just wanna see all of Fishlore People to be safe.

Hey guys,

Just wanna see you guys safe and i found something which is useful and may help you if you are in trouble. PLEASE READ IT and pass on to your love ones.
9 Tips for Your Women to Save Their Life's from Being Robbed and Raped!
In daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation….This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children, everyone you know. After reading these 9 crucial tips, please copy them to someone you care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1 . Tip from Tae Kwon Do:

The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans .

If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you…. chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. SO RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

a. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat, they will get the worst of it. As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

a.) Be aware: look around you; look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat

b.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

c.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!)

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, preferably in a zig -zag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP. It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her "Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, we already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT opens the door."

He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.

Please ask your belove or people that you love to read this and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby!

This article should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on America’s Most Wanted before when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana .I'd like you to let all the women you know about this, so please copy and send this to their email or ask them to read this article. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. Guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to print this out or pass it onto them, as well

Uh, modern cars just have a small hole for the light bulb for the rear lights. If you can kick the metal that much than more power to you. I'll just use the child safty latch and pop the trunk lid.

And most if not all of this can happen to a man also.

I take great issue with the idea of people not being sympathetic just to possibly save themselves. I've put myself in many situations that, if you think that everybody might be a serial killer, were potentially dangerous. I've bought homeless folks meals, I've gotten into cars when strangers offered me a ride to the nearest gas station when my car had broken down, I've stopped and helped someone change a tire. The list goes on and on and on.
Yes, it's possible that someone could pull a gun out and hurt me, but to always live in fear of the vast minority is a sad existence.

The single best self defense advice is this: Be alert. Don't be on your cell phone. Don't have headphones in. Be aware of the people around you. The guy who's going to mug you looks at you differently than the guy who wants to beg a dollar off you. Even more important, the guy who's going to mug you is being picky, and is likely to choose the person behind you, who is on the cell phone, staring down at her feet, and clueless to the world.
The second best self defense tip is: Look confident. This goes along with the last part of the last paragraph. Attackers are looking for easy targets. Don't look like one.

Beyond that, common sense, not paranoia, is your best friend. Most of the tips above might protect you from a very specific, extremely unlikely (to the point of being impossible) scenario, but they'll also wind you up inside, because you're looking at everything as a potential attack, and that's just not healthy.

The few that I agree with are:
The elbow is an excellent weapon (even better, find a good self defense class. Note that many TKD and karate schools focus on tournaments... this is not good self-defense).
The elevator is better than the stairs, if the elevator has a working camera and the stairs don't. If both have working cameras, I would choose stairs, as they can't easily be cut off from the rest of the building.
If someone has a gun on you, run. I don't know about the number listed, but if you ask any police officer, they'll tell you that it's hard to hit a moving target.
If you are parked in an area you don't like, many malls/campuses/etc... have services in which a guard will walk you to your car.

I have one more....Ladies, (and gentlemen too) nothing is going to bring a man down like a swift kick where it hurts the most! If i'm going to be mugged he had better protect the family jewels with his life! There are no rules when it comes to protecting yourself.

Agreed.
Once you hit, though, remember to run, or to keep attacking, depending on if the guy falls or not. Standing there and gloating is not going to do you any good.

I've also heard eyes, nose, throat are good places to hit.

As a single small-framed female, I would not stop to help someone else. However, I would have no problem calling the police so they can get the help they need.

It's usually not a problem around here. The police and other vehicle-assistance programs run the interstates on a consistent basis. They're all pretty good at stopping to help and they have the necessary training to handle the situation.

If you've got the chance, yes.
However, they are also easier to defend. The throat and eyes have natural defenses (eyelids and chin), and the head moves a lot more easily than the pelvis, and does so reflexively in the face of a threat, making it harder to hit those areas.
The groin is usually your best first shot. If the guy doesn't fall, a shot to the face may make the difference.
Depending on the type of shoes you and the attacker are wearing, a stomp on the instep is an excellent way to break away.

Great points! I never thought about them being easier to defend.

The crying baby thing is just an urban legend.

Being in law enforcement (but not a police officer), I don't agree with the entire list, but thank you, Speed0Factory, for having our best interests at heart.

I do want to stress that when a list goes around like this one, and focuses on the protection of women, it can actually do some harm. Men, in (at least American) culture, feel like they don't need to be protected, or that they are the protectors, and are likely to not be as alert. This stuff is drilled into women's heads, but it all applies just as equally to men.

I took a Rape Prevention class at my college, and this was the exact list we got. Thanks for posting!

In addition, it focuses on specifics, rather than general.
Specifics are great where there is a string of a particular kind of crime. For example, if the crying baby thing had actually happened, it's the kind of thing that women in that neighborhood should know.
However, in most cases, general information is better, because it doesn't flood the head with too much info to keep track of.

"Walk in well-lit areas."
"Look confident."
"Have your keys in hand before you leave the building, and don't forget to use them as weapons if you need."
"Stay in groups whenever possible."
Things like that protect against a wide range of crimes.

And I apologize, speed0factory. Thank you much for worrying about the members of the forum. My reaction to the thread was based on the fact that I've seen the list going around, and have enough self defense knowledge to know that, while the info was well-meant, it's not all accurate.
However, your post had an immensely positive consequence, in that people are talking about the stuff and presenting a lot of really good info.

IMO this list has been going around for awhile...not only is some of it "spam" and "urban legends" it gives others ideas that arent good and leads to a ton of copy cats.......

unfortunately in this world, we ALL have to always be aware...its not like when us "oldies" were growing up and times are scarey for everyone...men and women....

IMHO the best way to keep yourself safe is twofold:
1. Be Aware
Pay attention to where you are and what's going on around you

2. Trust your instincts
If your "spider sense" is tingling, there is a reason.

Lastly, if you should find yourself in any type of confrontation/assault/abduction, you need to have a "Survivor Mentality". NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS DO NO RESIGN YOURSELF TO THE FATE YOUR ATTACKER HAS PLANNED FOR YOU. Constantly be alert and planning a means of escape.

This is why I will be getting a concealed weapon. Luckily for me though, the government has spent to much money training me on how to stay alive in hand to hand combat.

I agree with most of you posting, and some in the original list. But others are iffy. Let it be known that the whole body can be considered a "vital organ" when being shot. You can die from a bullet anywhere and from any size bullet.

Kick the groin and elbow to the face are good ones. Also use the butt of your palm (Lower part of the palm) and thrust that up into their chin/mouth/nose area. I guarantee you it will hurt.

I would just like to add a point that I learned in a concealed carry class. It has been proved that when attacked not to yell stop or just to yell. You should yell FIRE. It gets people moving much quicker because it involves them to. I have a wife and daughter, so thanks for the helpful tips.

you are all welcome, and it's very different here in malaysia. nowadays malaysia becoming more and more dangerous, over here they don't just stop in front of you and say:" hey, i going to rob you." now they just kill you even they don't know whether you are carring money or not.

a girl just died last year because of this, and malaysia goverment isn't doing much things about it. And police here are useless to call them when you need help, if they catch the guy who is a malay they will normally release him next morning or a few days later.

this is the situation here, these few week i think you guys also hear about the church being burn down by four malay guys (Due to the conflict over use of word Allah by non-Muslims.). but till not they still did not catch them yet.
