I keep creating new threads today, not sure what's gotten into me!
I just did some water changes today and felt my heart glow a little in their intricate personalities and wanted to share.
The 10 was first. The cories, they love
water change day. They tend to dart from the algae brush, but when the siphon comes I have a hard time getting them away from it. They are obsessed with what I might dig up, and follow the tube relentlessly, so much I worry sometimes I might suck one of them up! But they refuse to stay away from it.
Neptune on the other hand, is quite different. I changed the decor. Don't recall if I posted a pic of it or not, but in case I didn't here it is:
See that cave on the right? That is his "safe spot." While he is normally very outgoing, and most especially when I flip on the light in the morning for feeding time (he's a beggar), he still does spook a little with quick movements near his tank, or when I'm cleaning it as I did today. He takes off like a flash to that little cave and hides in there with his little fishie nose peeking out to see what's going on. Then he might venture out a little more because he's too nosey to help himself, and take off for the cave again. As soon as the tube is gone he ventures out to see if there's any algae floating around to nibble on.
It was also Merlot's turn today too. I could not get HIM out of my way either. But the whole thing was so hillarious I wish I could have gotten a video. I use a mini syphon on that tank as well, even though it's only 3 gallons or so. Works great. But the whole time he kept circling my hand and looking "through" the tube (it's clear) with his face all distorted like a fun house mirror. Also looked like he contemplated tasting my fingers a few times to see if they were edible. He was so enthralled with this tube I couldn't help but laugh out loud. And then, when I was dumping water back in, he decided he'd rather surf the current than stay at the other end. I am falling quite in love with this little guy.

He is a quiet and shy little thing, but not skittish. And he is very fascinated by anything and everything going on around OUTSIDE his tank, vs. inside. Apparently my decorating skills are nearly as interesting as my large head making fish faces at him.
Just wanted to share.
