Sometimes ordering online just makes things more complicated...

Not fish related just a bit of a rant.

I've been looking into getting a second mp3 player for awhile now, mostly because my 80GB ipod classic is too big and bulky to run with or take into the gym. Originally I was going to get sony's new walkmen headphone/player combo. Then found out that they have a habit of "shorting out" when sweated on (not water proof/resistant apparently). So clicking around and I come across the ScanDisk Sansa Clip, 2 Gb, small cheap and reviews seem pretty good... except that the Clip Plus is what's out now, and it's 4GB and the reviews are better. Sweet! Except that at Best Buy (where I have the gift card) it's almost $20 more then the Future Shop (according to online), and there's a Future Shop here in Saskatoon... However there is always the iPod Shuffle to fall back on but I've already got an iPod and there are enough issues with that one to make me leery of going that route again...

I suppose when you have more selection things get more complicated but still...

Anyone have a good music player to run with?

lol thanks for letting me vent.

LOL rant and vent all you want! its good for you

I really suggest the Ipod Nanos. They are really small, and have a TON of capacity. You can also get arm braces so you can run with them and go to the gym. IMO i would only buy trusted brands (sony, apple... and thats it IMO) because since it is a very pricy object its best to go with trustworthy and reliable brands.

I have the first nano that came out. 1Gb, (not alot) but its great. Ive lost count of how many times i've droped it, thrown it, gotten it wet, and it still plays great. Its even dented in the back and works great hehe.

My suggestion is go with the best possible. Dont try to go cheap with something like this, as it can be a total rip off in the end. Thats my suggestion

I sort of agree with tony, if you have the apple software why not just go with another iPod, I have an iPod touch and it is light weight and I have dropped it a couple of times and it holds the battery for a couple hours when just playing music

Tony &Gourmiguy17: The thing about going with another iPod is that I haven't had much luck with mine, it's frozen on me multiple times and both it and my laptop get "twitchy" when I want to work with it... Also since all I want to do is run with it I don't need the fancy LCD screen.
Borisbbad: How's the clip on the clip hold up? They never mention that in the reviews.

Oh good point too! You have to consider battery life as well. My Ipod has gone 12 hours playing on high volume without dyeing, so it has to be considered too. the Ipod touch tends to run out of battery as the screen takes up the power, but as said by gouramiguy if its just playing music it can go for a while.

EDIT: What generation of ipods was it? Is it the first video like this one:

The reason they could be freezing and twitching is because they were the first of their kind, making them suceptible to problems down the line. It happens all the time. Check apple regularly, as sometimes when their products are malfunctioning they will refund your money or they will replace it. This happened with the first ipod videos, i had mine's screen get all grey and eventually i sold it, finding out later that apple replaced all faulty ones.

That's the thing with the Clip +, no fluff and stuff, it's simple and mainly just for music. So it would be great for running or the gym. So far the clip has held up fine, but it is plastic, so you never know.

Tony: I bought it new 2 years ago but don't remember the details on it. It looks like the silver one in the second picture.

yup, you have the first version of it. You see when they come out, they can be faulty. Once they begin failing they improve them, which are the ones they have now, the improved versions.

I would still go for the nano, thats just me

and... you cant beat colors
