What's in your tap water?

I thought this was and interesting link.
Please read it carefully, this sites is only up to date if your water compnay has reported it's info.

Maybe the better question would be "What isn't in your tap water".

You can also go to your local water company's website and usually find the most recent data regarding some of these, and also a bunch of stuff that might affect your aquarium. (mineral content, nitrogen content, etc...)
Put the two together, and you'll have quite a bit of good info.

Thanks sds!
With my water company, it's not listed on their website. You're directed to e-mail the state to get an assessment.
My country water wasn't up to date on the liink I gave.

We get our water from the same aquifer as Austin. They are in the top 10, and we're 29th on that list. Maybe we need to take our cues from them...

That's actually kind of worrisome. I really like that my local utilities are pretty open about what's in the water supply.

Yeah, tell me about it! lol
A few years ago we got a letter saying something like, by the way, the state made us write this letter telling you that last month your water had been contaminated with (insert whatever) and inspection was failed, but the problem is fixed now.

Thanks Shawnie, no I think this is just for those of us who reply on companies for water.

I'm sure having a well has it's own concerns.

Thanks Lucy,

Its interesting to know our water company failed every year! The biggest thing they failed on each year is the amount of arsenic and nitrate in the water!

I hate the taste of our water here, its like drinking metal!

Will be keeping a closer watch on our water now and badgering the water company more for updates with nitrates etc.... (when i first tested the water the nitrate content was over 40ppm)
