I hope I pass the inspection...

My apartment complex sent out notices yesterday to everyone telling us that we are no longer allowed to keep anything other than plants, bikes, and patio furniture on our patios. They are inspecting everyone tomorrow. A lot of our neighbors have rediculous things on their patios like weight machines, treadmilles, beach towels hanging over the railings, etc and its totally tacky. I understand why they are doing the inspection, but I don't really know how my tub ponds are going to go over. Technically they do have plants, and I guess they could be considered furniture, but I don't know, and I really hope they don't make me get rid of them. My patio is very clean and always looks nice, so I am hoping that they let it slide. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Oh, fingers crossed. Please let us know, I'd hate for you to have to take down your beautiful pond.
Maybe put patio umbrella in the center of it.

*fingers crossed*

I've seen pics of your ponds, and they look great! I can't imagine that the landlord would have a problem with them.

Oh kate i hope all goes well! if you have to take it apart, you could always move it indoors

I think they will let it slide once they see how nice it is

Thanks guys I just finished making my patio and the ponds as presentable as possible. Lol, I don't think they would work indoors since we have 2 dogs and a cat who would just love to go swimming in them I am keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

~Fingers crossed~ as well!

Hope everthing goes well. I love your pond too, it's beautiful so the inspectors would be blind if they make you remove it. Please keep us updated.

I had to go have a look at all your pics.
I think it looks great! Fingers crossed.

I like the table idea.
Tell 'em it's a "wet bar".

Thanks so much everyone I know that if we don't pass the inspection, we get a notice from their legal office, so I am guessing if that's the case we'll know sometime next week, which really stinks because I'm going to be on pins and needles the whole time. I was also planning on adding a couple of goldies, but I am definitely waiting until I find out first. I kind of want to call the front office and ask them, but I don't know how close they are looking when they do the inspection (lots of people have huge things on their patios that you can see from the street), and I don't want to draw attention to something that they would maybe overlook.

They're probably looking more for things that would look trashy or dangerous.
Surely they won't fail you for something that enhances the property.

Put a top on it and a table cloth and a fake plant on top for the inspection! lol

They are cracking down everywhere right now! We got a notice about 2 weeks ago that we could not have anything in the front yard (visible from the street). We have had our nice neat wood pile behind our tangerine tree for 50 years. It is now considered "yard waste" and had to be moved. GRRRRR. Anyway. Good luck with your inspection. I think ponds are actually considered furniture already so you should be fine.

Well I haven't heard anything, but no news is good news. I will assume I'm home free and all is well if we don't hear anything by Wednesday. I figure if they do send out notices, it will take them a couple days to get them out. Hopefully its all good though. If there aren't any problems, I'm gonna celebrate by getting a couple new goldies

I'm sure they'll consider those "planters," that's not the kind of thing they're looking for.

I think it's a great idea though, some of my neighbors have ridiculous things on their balconies too, and it looks so trashy. One person keeps a stack of folding charis and tables out there, another keeps a lawnmower (for what lawn?) and a bunch of patio furniture on end (the balcony's are only 3x6...like a closet).

But then again, some people have very nice planter gardens and flower boxes...so it's kind of a toss up. I just have my 3 pots of herbs and a grill (which I use every night, cleanup is a breeze!).

Thanks everyone I'll have to take some new pics of the pond when spring rolls around. Its not very pretty right now in the middle of winter. Next time I clean out the pond, I'll try to pull my goldies out to get some pics
