Largest Fish Tank at your LFS

What are the largest fish tanks you have seen in your LFS? The guy around the corner has a 400 gallon SW tank but recently I found a store with 95% SW and he has a 780 gallon tank.

Hmm, I'd hazard a guess at over 1000 since there several small sharks (> 3ft though) in the tank with A LOT of swimming room.

Wow those sharks have got to be expensive. Have you been to the store Beital's in Pearl River? and if so is it worth taking a trip to? I think I was there a long time ago but don't remember. I always so it advertised in one of the fish magazines.

i dont know how many gallons it is, but a LFS has a SW tank that is probably 4ft tall x 15ft long x 4ft wide. it had rounded ends and the stand was stainless steel wrapped. it was amazing!

According to the calculator on the bottom of this page its about 1800 gallons. I would hate to be the one doing WC's on that.

Hmm, no I haven't. Since my parents live in Nanuet (the town adjacent to Pearl River), maybe I'll swing by next time I'm home.

Not very big at all. I would say something around 250ish. Thanks for reminding me how much my town sucks.

The fish stores I frequent don't have any tanks larger than 245. PetCo not having anything larger than a 10g.

The one I go to doesn't have larger than 75, but he at least only keeps oscars and plecos in there (no sharks or other super huge huge fish). On the plus side, the rest of his FW tanks are at least 20g.

The bad pet store in town... well, there's a reason I think they're bad! Tiny, overstocked tanks with incompatible tank mates. The biggest tank is maybe 75 - it contains a 30" clown knife fish AND Oscars and other big fish. Absolutely beautiful fish and the poor things can't even swim. I really hate that place.

I hate it when they do that! That's the reason why I'll never go back to the LFS I mentioned in my post above. Its mainly a SW store and while the SW displays are fantastic, they treat the FW fish like poo. I'm talking about full grown oscars and frontosas in 5-10g where they can't even turn. Overall the store acts very snooty and it was a complete displeasure asking employees questions. Maybe its just around me, but LFSs specializing in saltwater set ups tend to have arrogant dispositions and insufferable service.

There is a relatively new store nearby that has a 5,000 Gallon reef tank with a couple black tipped shark in it. It is round and HUGE. The store has 300 tanks and a bunch of various sizes done as set ups.

Wow!! That's as good as going to the zoo. I would seriously be there everyday if I could.

I was servicing a house a few years back that had a 3000 gal tank. The tank was on the bottom floor of his 9000 square foot "entertainment room". It also had a shark in it. A door along side the tank went to the "filtration room". I thought I was in the back stage of Sea World! Unfortunately I was not into the hobby at the time and did not appreciate the logistics or the plain "AWESOME factor"!

I also have a friend that customized his house and converted his pool into a Koi Pond! The pool is 14,000 gals and he has about 30 Koi that range from 1-3 feet long! Does that count??

My LPS has a african cichlid pond that is about 10 feet long, 2-3 feet deep, and 6 feet wide. Other than that they have a plain 55 gallon tank with nothing but angels and another 55 with some big SA cichlids that I can't identify. The rest are just 20's.

The largest tank I've seen at a LFS is a 1,000 gallon freshwater community tank. It's one of the many LFS that I've been to. It's in Sacramento, CA and it's called Capitol Aquarium.

It's a nice big tank with bala sharks, clown loaches, an arowana, and some other fish. It's funny cuz I found a couple youtube videos of it.
Here's the videos--->
