| Argh! (Totally not fish-related...) (...though it does indirectly involve a mermaid)
Last week, when I was at my parents' house, I was watching syfy and caught an episode of Sanctuary. I thought the show was awesome, so when I got home, I checked to see if it was on Netflix.
Not only was it on Netflix, but the first season was available to watch instantly. Cool. So for the past week or so, I've been watching the first season as I had a chance to. I finished last night (well, early this morning... early enough that I shouldn't be awake right now) and went about finding Season 2, as Season 1 ends with a huge cliffhanger.
I am, however, four days too late in completing Season 1, as SyFy is only allowing to be shown online the last four episodes, which means that currently, the episodes start with PART 2 of End of Nights; the first episode of the season.

Reason: correcting episode name... I was tired |

| Ooh that stinks!
Though I'm with you and LOVE the netflix instant queue. Unfortunately, I've been really obsessed with Doctor Who as of late and they'll only be available on instant queue until Dec 1. Ack!! So I've been trying to cram as much Doctor Who as possible in my spare time before it's too late. |

| I'm about to show how much of a dork I truly am:
The cartoon Gargoyles was only released for the first few seasons. The rest won't be released because they didn't sell enough of the other seasons. I feel your pain! |

| I don't agree with the free downloads and stuff either, some sites do offer downloads for a fixed monthly charge though, which is quite handy.
Though either way I'm generally too lazy to download and like watching stuff sat on my sofa, even more so when i get my new TV!
And Sirdarksol....That has got to be one of the most annoying things ever! |

| Amazon.com's VOD has the episode, thankfully, and I have now watched it. Back to Hulu so I can keep up from this point on. |

VCR and DVD have always been legally grey areas when it comes to making copies of things for friends, though a court would likely find in favor of the show's production company in the case of thousands of copies being made, which is what we're talking about when we're downloading TV episodes.
TiVo is not grey in any way, because it is a service that is paid for, and the viewing of the show is tracked (meaning the show can then demand more money from advertisers). Likewise with Hulu and other legit places to watch shows. Netflix pays for their content and in turn gets paid by the consumer.
Morally, I want to abide by the production company's wishes. They do not wish that any more than the previous four episodes are available for free online viewing (as mentioned, I found it on a VOD site... it only cost a couple of bucks), and so I will abide by that. |
