It's rare in an age of wireless connections and impersonal interaction to find people who truly care about you, and rarer still to find folks willing to lend a hand to someone in need of help.
I was frankly touched by the caring and helpful responses I got when I posted frantically that my fish had come down with
ICH. As many of you know, my local fish store was no help at all, and my dear Lily's only hope was the internet.
You guys saved her life. I may have done what you guys suggested, but you were the ones who knew what to do and were not only knowledgable, but perfectly willing to help a silly, confused college kid with her fish's illness. You all took time out of your undoubtedly busy days to advise, comfort, even reassure me you'd been there. It meant the difference between hope and helplessness for me, but it meant the difference between life and death for my Lily.
So, from the bottom of my heart and soul, I thank you. If I could buy you each a steak dinner, I would, but alas I cannot. All I've got to thank you with are these words, and the knowledge that I will, in the future, do my part to help people as you've helped me. NEVER underestimate the value of a random act of kindness, even if it's something as small as a tidbit of fish-care advice.
Lily would thank you also, but she doesn't have fingers and cannot type. I will upload a video soon to show how much happier she is!
Secondly, and less importantly, I am giving a speech about why bettas need tanks of three gallons or more tomorrow for a class. Most of my classmates don't seem to care... I aim to change this. The speech is actually about why fish in general need larger homes, but I'm using bettas as the prime example. I WILL mention goldies, for all you goldie-lovers!
Wish me luck!
