Ok so basically this is just a vent to make me feel better.

I'm a U-Life coach (U-Life 101:a first year program that my university puts on to help ease the transition from high school to uni.) So anyway for weeks we've been planning to do a movie night here in ag this saterday. I found out THURSDAY that due to the secretary being sick since monday she never got the e-mail I sent about booking a room. (the monday thing was my fault but really if they'd let me know then she was sick I wouldn't be in this situation!) I found out on Thursday that there was no room booked. I ran around my college desperately trying to find a room. One of the secretary's said she'd try and to come back today. Well found out just NOW that nope there's nothing I can do to get a room on campus. I've got a midterm to study for tomorrow so I don't have time to deal with this, but I don't want to let the group down. There's few enough of them that I could have it at my place... IF I had a tv, AND a couch (a point I've been arguing with my parents over for a little while now). Really tempted to drop a 100 for a tv and couch and see if I can find someone with a truck who'll go pick it up for a case of beer...

You could always see if you could rent a projector. My sister does neighborhood movie nights and shows the movies (from dvd) on her garage door. Everyone brings blankets or lawn chairs and sits on the front lawn and driveway to watch the movie. Of course, it would depend on how cold it is there...

Thanks everyone.
After freaking out for 3 hours I got an e-mail from my boss saying that she managed to book a room for us. <collapses on imaginary couch> That was a major relief but thanks for listening. For a while there I was going out of my mind.

There are places in MN where that can happen (there are quite a few cities built on flood plain here). In fact, it happens every ten years or so in my Mom's home town.

For the past month, we've had temps ranging from "baking in the car" to "house is 50 degrees in the morning". We've had two nasty snowstorms in October. The only other big October storm that's happened in my life was in 1991 (I think), when we had a blizzard on Halloween.
