| ANOTHER rescue I put an ad on CL saying anyone that has unwanted tropicals - I'd take them. Any I can't keep I can give to my LFS.
Well, someone e-mailed me saying they have 16 unknown cichlids & 2 plecos. He has since re-homed 8 cichlids - but I pick up the remaining 8 & the plecos tonight. I have no idea what I'm getting myself into!!
I'll let everyone know what they are when I get them home. |

| Atta girl, Amanda! We're so proud of you! Using your powers for good It's a great feeling, isn't it?
Definitely let us know what they are. There may be some of us (who shall remain nameless) that may be able to help you re-home some if you can't keep them all. |

| Ok, so I rescued 8 African Cichlids, 2 HUGE plecos & a big Firemouth.
I only kept the Firemouth - he's in my 55 gal.
The guy had 8 Africans and 2 plecos in a 20.
He had 8 Cons, 2 Africans, 1 pleco & 20 guppies in a 55. Def. weird set-up. |

| What did you do with the others? Wow, 8 cons in a 55. That's scary enough WITHOUT tossing the africans into the mix. |

| My LFS took them, they're great about owner turn-ins. I love them for that reason. |

| Great job Amanda! Let me know how the Firemouth does with the Oscars and Cons. I was going to get a Firemouth for the 90gal earlier in the year but went for the Jewels instead. |

| Well, the Firemouth is getting beat up in the 55. I need to get the 150 up...but my mother is being so difficult! Ugh.... |

| Update:
The Firemouth is out & about - but I never see "him" eat.
I know, I know - I need to post some pics. The Firemouth has taken the spot above my male Con in the pecking order in my tank. I actually think that my male con left my pink female & paired up with my black female. Do they switch partners like that? |

| That's an interesting question, Amanda. My striped male spawned with both my jellys and my striped female the first time, but he's spawned with my striped female twice since then. |

| Hmmm....he won't go near my pink female anymore since she's guarding fry. And if he does, they get into a BAD squabble. He mostly hangs out with my small black female. |

| That may be why. My striped female with the last batch of fry kicked the male "out of the house". He had to stay with the jellys for awhile on the other side of the tank. After I took out the fry, they "made up". |
