Vacation!

We have this friday off from school, and so me and my family are going to San Diego! Woot woot!
I'm super excited, but a little worried too, because the last time I went away for the weekend, I had two fish die in the next couple days after I got back. Granted, they were already sick (but off medication) so it wasn't totally random, but I was just wondering if there are any other precautionary measures I should be taking.
I don't have any fish in quarantine right now, but I was thinking water change, stresscoat+, and bloodworms before I left. I'd normally ask my grandparents to come over and check on them, but they're getting old, and its only for a weekend.
Any other ideas?

Lucky you! Where are you going?

Since it's just the weekend, do a water change and feed them before you leave.
When you get home, change the water and feed them, they'll be fine for a day without food.

San Diego, California! I have a lot of relatives there. I'll do the water change before I go, and just hope for the best.

Oh cool, have fun. They'll be fine.
You can put a timer on the lights if you want.
You know how fish get pale when the lights are out and color up when you turn them on?
That's the one thing that scared me when I came back from a weekend away. Man, were my fish pale.
They were happy to see me.....ok, probably happy to be fed, but that's ok.

It takes a while for fish to starve to death, so you have nothing to worry about going away for a weekend. Don't fall into the trap of feeding them extra food cause they won't be eating for a couple days - no good can come from this.

I know this, but they're so darn hard to resist! I'm able to control myself, but I admit that when I'm leaving I want to go and dump all the bloodworms I have in there, so that they'll be very very happy. Until they eat themselves sick, that is... So I just give them the worms and maybe a little piece of algae wafer as a treat.

Hello Megusta. Have fun and enjoy your weekend. Try not to worry too much about your fish. With you doing a water change and regular feeding before you leave, I agree they should be fine.
Travel safely.
