Is it aggression?

I think it maybe overstocked. Is it aggression or are they just being fish? I havn't seen signs of aggression between the blue ram and gourami.

Hmmm... i've heard of fish "adopting" another as a pet. I had a cory catfish that used to pal around with one of my previous platies.

I think the guppy is just sad that his little school with the neon tetras ended. Should I add more neon tetras? This tank is almost 2 weeks old.

looks like fish being fish but the gourami worries me...ive not seen one just swim up and down over and over like that...or at least mine are more horizontal swimmers...and very curious about the entire tank...do you have a reading for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates on that tank?

Hmmm sometimes my mollies do that in the 55 gallon (not overstocked) because that's where the air stone is, so I think they like to play in the bubbles or the circulation. Do you have a lot of circulation in that corner?

I'm told that a fish swimming up and down the side like that can often be a sign of boredom...

To me, it looks like it could be stress. How long has be been doing that?
Maybe add some plants with nice fat leaves so he has a place to feel safe.

They all need *same as* play mates.

If your neon school is on the small side, be sure to have at least 4 or 5 of them in the tank. And the tank is a little bare, maybe consider some more plants? Plastic is fine if you haven't an aquatic green thumb, but live plants really are the best. Java ferns, crypts, vallis, and water wisteria are my favorites. Easy to grow, and all fairly hardy.

Thanks for asking I timed it and they do it the least for 30(usually more) seconds all in the same place(guppy, tetra, cichlid, gourami) The gourami doesn't go after any fish but the guppy does.

I saw that in the video, your guppy went after your neon. if this problem isn't a water related issue, as mentioned above, i recommend investing in plant cover and increasing your schooling of tetras. Also, you could add two more male guppies to keep them interested in each other rather than on the tetras

Edit:

Wait, are those tree branches in your tank? could they be causing a problem?

Hmmm, I have had guppy problems even in the 10 gallon, the neons schooled with the guppy and the guppy went after them. Maybe he needs a female?

If you get a female, he needs to have at least 2-3 otherwise that female will be chased and stressed to a quick and unpleasant death. Please don't do this unless you have room in that tank for them.

As stated by the others, I agree that more plant cover and decor that they can swim in and around will likely give them the sense of security they need and it will help relieve boredom.

That's for all the help. I thought it was going to be a super expensive complicated solution. I will add some more of that background plant because of its big leaves. I can't fit any decorations in the tank, I filled it with branches.

I agree with shawnie, it shouldnt be doing that. Mine has only been in the tank for about a week, and he has been swimming all over, is he curious at all? Does he investigate whatever is in the tank? mine does anyway, not sure if all DG's are like that

of course he does. It's just that he does that sometimes in that same spot. I hope it is nothing bad. I don't see him/her doing it now. It usually swims around the plants as you can see in my avatar.

A couple of mine did the same thing when I first added them. Funny enough, they were the blue ones as well. It could be normal but then again, I'm the one who has a couple of gouramis in "ICU".

Well I am not seeing him/her doing that any more(probably because I go to school and don't look at my tank enough) but I hope it is alright. Guppy is better but only when alone.

Hello Time. For some reason I can't get your video to play.

It's working now! That was odd. Took a few times clicking on it.

LOL It happened to me too. They are all doing fine now none do that corner thing. I think they were still getting accustomed to the tank.
