WOW that's crazy! Bet she didn't know thing one about fish when she got them. It makes me angry when the fish stores sell things to people just to make a sale. I own a fish store and I always try to inform the buyers as much as I can. If they still go ahead and buy at least I tried and if they don't buy well that's ok to.

I hate to say this guys, but I kinda wish Oscar's weren't sold in pet stores unless they were special orders only. So many times, they end up being victims of people's lack of knowledge for the tank requirements.

that guys probably one of those parents that spoils their kids and gives them whatever they
want, and then the kid doesnt take care of it

I'm surprised that they have lived this long. Hopefully some responsible fish keeper will get them and rehouse them in a much larger home.

This is even worse: I saw a shark in a 20 gallon at my favorite fish place. It wasn't permanent though something happened to their big tank. I havn't seen the oscar so it either died or got sold.

The worse part of this whole thing is the parents teaching the kid that pets are disposable..Get tired of one just get another...VERY sad for sure...I feel bad for those poor fish too being crammed in such a small space...

That's just like giving a way a child so you can get a new one. I remember seeing a youtube video with a oscar and bala sharks in a 10 gallon and the oscar ate one of the bala sharks head off and he posted a video of it floating around headless.

it is so sad the way some people treat pets like they r dispoable. oh in hawii did you hear that the water ways are getting polluted with tropical fish so they made these places where you can drop off your fish if you dont want them anymore or if they get too big then they can give the fish away or sell them at discount prices to fish stores and responsable hobbiest

That's a good way to mess up the ecosystem. I do like the solution, though. It's better than turning them loose.
