Safe Fish Outlets

Wal-Mart sells these 6 outlet adapters. They're only like 2-3 dollars. All of the outlets in it are in the wall, so they're safer than the strips (for those of us who like to water the floor during water changes just in case it's thirsty) and they're great for MTS when we have more than one tank on the same wall and it only has two outlets. It gives you six outlets, which will cover two filters, your heater, and your lighting without "overpacking" the circuit.

Just a little helpful hint I've discovered and thought I'd share for anyone who didn't know

So what you are saying is that you wet the bed. Come on Tony we all wet the bed at one point of another of our lives.

Another option is to mount the power strips on the wall. At least some of these have a sort of "breaker" in them to shut the power in case they get wet. As for us, we use power strips exclusively, but only on GFCI outlets. We've gone around the house and replaced any normal outlet that a tank runs from with a GFCI, and would recommend that everyone else do the same. Safety first... this could save your life as far as fire prevention!!!

BTW.... we've read many real accounts from our local reef club forum and Reefcentral where GFCI's have saved lives!

How do you mount the power strips onto the walls? I've never heard of that and it sounds like a great idea!

If you take a look at the power strip, sometimes you can see slots in the back where you can put nails in the wall and slide the power strip onto the nails. Some don't have the slots.

I mount mine into the bottom of the tank if the stand is iron with good double sided tape or on the cabinet itself making sure I have a good drip loop.

We do the same; zip ties work great for this purpose. Still, we run the power strips into the GFCIs. Hubby is an ex-firefighter.

Ditto, I've got wood floors that like a drink now and again too! They should use this as a selling gimmick for the sham-wow!

I have my power strips currently mounted on the wall behind my 155g as well, with a good drip loop. As for my 26g I have a 3 way plug in and I really like it. As for the new fish room coming up I have 22 sockets that I can actually fill, and I had the room wired with it's own 20 amp circuit breaker yeah!!!!!!!!!
