| A great story to remember OK, so I have these friends who have a cousin who is visiting CT. They have an autistic non-speaking 5 year old son, Bobby. Yesterday they went to The Msytic Aquarium for the day, all packed up with lunch and backpacks for all.
Bobby went missing sometime during the outing. The Aquarium closed down for more than hour while looking for Bobby. FINALLY they found Bobby wandering around wet but intact and unhurt.
So that was the end of their outing at the Mystic Aquarium, home they went and started up a nice hot bath for Bobby after being wet for hours.
The parents heard the bathroom door shut and lock. They had to bust the door down to get to Bobby in the bathtub.
Well, they got to Bobby but not just Bobby in the bathtub! He brought home with him in his backpack a PENGUIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is that not the greatest story? He doesn't speak but he screamed bloody murder when the penguin had to go back to the Aquarium.

| OMG!
The poor parents not being able to find him!
Poor Bobby, he had to return the penguin! It is a sweet story. Seriously, you know there had to be some "bonding" going on for him to be able to catch the penguin and get it in his backpack. I know the penguin wouldn't have been happy living with only people, but it's kinda sweet.
Maybe he'll get a VIP pass for further visits so he can go visit "his" penguin.
That is a great story. Kids and animals seem to go hand-in-hand
Thanks for sharing! |

| I thought that a story this amazing must have made the local news. I did a google search on the phrase "boy takes penguin from zoo" and found that this is a popular urban legend. The idea of a child being able to access the animals in a public aquarium is pretty scary. |

You might want to google Mystic Aquarium and see what kind of a facility it is and you may understand why it wouldn't make the "local news".

| Well it is a popular urban legand. That is exactly what I said. That I googled that phrase and that's what i found. The news stories referred to it as an "urban legend". I'll look up some info on the Mystic aquarium to see what you mean. I'm glad your friends little boy didn't get hurt by either the water or any animals at the aquarium |

The penguins would probably run!!! Once we get older than 12, the animals seem to know we lose our "innocence" |

| I went to the Mystic aquarium web site. It looks like a nice aquarium.
I won't waste time posting a bunch of links but I really read the same story only the autistic child was 12 and not 5. both the New England Aquarium and the Pittsburgh Zoo have had calls from people trying to verify this story.
The 12 year old was locked in the bathroom after his mom thought a bath would calm him down and when the parents got the door open he had a penguin.
If the same thing happened to your friend's cousin then ok, stranger things have happened.
I have three boys and the idea of one of my boys at 5 years old getting lost is terrifying to me. I'm sure that after locking down the facility in an adam alert type situation and finding a child that had been missing for an hour the paramedics probably checked him out pretty well to make sure he was not injured. It must have been absolutely horrifying for the parents. Especially after finding him all wet and not being able to ask him how he got that way. |

I'll be sure to check urban legends before posting a made up story.

| I don't know if I agree with the "you got me" part. My intentions when I googled it were really just to get some more information about an amazing story. I was the repeating the story to my husband and kids when I read it.
Well I hope it is not true because it would have been a tough day for a little kid and his parents. That mom will spend the rest of her life wondering what was happening to her child while he was missing for an hour.
My son crawled under a vendor's table at an outdoor fair when he was about 3 or 4. My ex was supposed to be holding his hand and I had my younger son. The canal was right behind the booth. The lady at the booth said "did anyone hear a splash?" I couldn't decide whether to run and look for someone in the crowd holding him or jump in the canal. He was missing for less than a minute before we found him. He is 17 now and when I think about it now I still hear the lady asking about the splash. I know there would have been no chance of finding a child in that water. I'd love to erase that memory from my head. On the other hand, I'm sure it made me a better parent.
Oh well, water under the bridge
Have a good day |

| I thought it was a great story. Now I'm all bummed out that it might not be real.
We had a kid in our town get his arm stuck in one of those crane machine things. They called emergency services and it turned out that if he would let go of the stuffed toy he was holding he wouldn't have been stuck. He absolutely refused to let go, whilst screaming the whole while. Kinda reminds me of Homer Simpson and the vending machine. |

He had his hand stuck in a vase for like a whole episode hehehe |
