Cory lays eggs, now what??

What an afternoon I've had! I noticed my very fat cory carrying some eggs and next time I looked they were gone. I have no idea where she deposited them. Then another batch...then another...then another...etc. This went on for hours. I watched where she put them, watched the betta feast on one lot, other corys on another. Anyway, we couldn't help saving some, and now they're floating in a little tea-strainer safe from the hungry hoards. But what now? The tank has only been set up for a month, I have no tank for fry (if they even hatch), and have no idea what to feed them if they do. I've seen other threads about similar problems but need advice on what's available in Australia. Not sure I really want to get into this so soon, but kinda couldn't help it. Plus my son is insisting we save them. Maybe I should just let the betta have a feast?
And MAN is mama cory hungry now!!

Hello Scatty. Congrats on the Cory eggs. I don't have personal experience with Cory eggs so I'll let someone else help there. Since your tank is newly cycled, should a lot of those eggs hatch it would seem it could throw your tank into a mini cycle so I would be prepared for some water changes as things develop just in case. You may want to consider letting nature take it's course in this instance. The more your tank matures the stronger the beneficial bacteria will be.

Hi there again aquarist. Thanks on the congrats, it was really quite an exciting event, altho I must admit I was a bit over it by the time she finally finished. It took so long, she must have laid nearly a hundred or so all up. She must feel SO much better now. If they hatch it will throw more than the tank out, believe me. Besides which, I can't see the fry surviving my voracious hunter, the betta. I tend to agree with you but my boy so badly wants to watch the eggs hatch. Maybe I should let them do what they will and ask the guy at the fish shop if he wants them. Ahh, the dilemma...
