Craigslist

I found a 55 gallon aquarium with stand on Craigslist. They're asking $125. For around here, that's pretty good.

It has two oscars in it and she mentioned convicts as well. She says the fish have to go with the tank. I'm not looking to keep tankbusters in a 55 gallon aquarium and I don't want Karma (my convict) to have anyone else in her aquarium.

When you guys come across this, how do you handle it? I don't think I'd have a problem re-homing the convicts, but I'm a little concerned about the oscars (they're at least 12") right now.

I'll pass on the tank if I can't figure out how to re-home the oscars. I know they need to be in a much larger tank and I want the 55 for an African Cichlid tank.

Thanks for any advice you all can provide.

Call ahead to your LFS and tell them that you have 2 Oscars that you need to re-home. Bring buckets with you, and then bring them directly to your LFS. That's what I did with a monster pleco & goldfish someone gave me.

That'll work!

I replied to her e-mail and let her know I'd have to re-home everything in the tank and I haven't heard back from her. Maybe she didn't appreciate me telling her the tank was too small for the oscars so that's why I'd have to re-home them.

Maybe she'll reply sometime today. I couldn't pick up the tank until at least Thursday anyways. She's about an hour away from me.

I didn't tell the person what I was doing with their fish. Once I paid for it, they're mine & I can do what I choose with them IMO.
Re-homing them is the responsible thing, so in my mind, I did whatever I needed to to get the fish.

lol, I find that the least amount of info given is best when it comes to buying tanks off craigslist. Either you want to hug them, or you want to kill the seller by the end of the transaction.

Very good advice. I'll be keeping that in mind.

Thank you very much
