OMG Betta Fight Overnight

Oh my. So two nights ago went to bed and before that I checked all the fishies and turned their lights off. Every tank and every fish was fine. So I got up and started by turning lights on and after that began with food and always leave the betta tank for last cuz I gotta get the food from the freezer and cut it. To my surprise the two bettas were in the same side of the tank. So I pulled one out and put it on the other side and looked around for separation on the divider. Found an area that moved a bit but couldn't think he sneaked through there but ok. I fixed again and carry on with my 4 of July preps. Chicken and Ribs on the grill. So later on the day sitting by the bar I found again the same betta on the other side. So WTH is going on? Well my wife's friend spotted a hole on the divider behind the Java Fern that I didn't see before. So pulled one betta out to another tank on a floating breeder tank while I got the divider out and fix it. When I pulled out the entire bottom of the plastic divider fell like wet toilet paper. WTH It was one of those you buy at the fish store. I tell you what I'll never buy that again. That thing wasn't a year old. So I went and got some of the crafts kind that everyone uses on the forum that I had left from my last project and fixed again. This time It won't break. Put the other betta back again on his side and did a 50% water change to help heal the battle wounds on the other guy. His fins are torn apart and his got one side of his face pretty bad too. So medication to help heal the wounds and check to see if he want it to eat but nothing can change his appetite. He's eating with no problem. Hopefully he heals soon.

Oh poor babies! If he's eating I would think lots of good clean water and good food will have him well on his way to being well. If you need to you can put a couple of drops of garlic juice and /or vitachem in his water . will help him heal.

I can't believe that partition actually disintegrated like that!! Hopefully you get the chance to inform the LFS about it so they can stop selling em. I'm glad you caught it in time though.

Such naughty fish!
I'm glad they survived. Like Carol said, clean water with extra stress coat and a couple drops of garlic juice will help.
I hope the new divider works better.

ive so been there a few times!!!!!! make sure you try to find some stress coat+ it really makes a world of differences...but it takes a good 2 weeks...instead of garlic guard, buy a jar of fresh garlic and use the juice from that...its much cheaper also..you only need 1-2 drops per gallon....

Yep I have a female Ram quarantined for those same problems and the garlic is great. I also add VitaChem.

I never seen any fresh garlic that has liquid in the jars. The ones I have seen they are just plain garlic no liquid on them.
