i love my striped and spotted raphael catfish they are beautiful looking fish and my fav's.
the problem is that i dont get to see them to often very rare to be honest,i know they are nocturnal and dont come out much in the day and hide alot, but i was wondering after some time and when they get more comfortable in thier surroundings would they come out to the open more?
or is this as good as it gets?

I have 2 upsidedown catfish. when i first got them they hid all the time. once i thought one died because i couldnt find it for 3 hours. i have had them for 3 months now and they still hide alot but they are more comfortable coming out.

Plan on not seeing raphael 's. You could try feeding them after you turn off the tank lights but leave a light on in the room that way you can see them.

One catfish that I have had success with not hiding was Horabagrus Brachysoma, sun catfish. The fish was always active and would even eat pellets off the surface when the other fish were feed.
