R.I.P. Blood Parrot

I'm soooo heart broken...I just lost one of my Blood Parrots today. It's the 6th fish to have died in the last month. Now I'm sure to lose the other one, because he's not eating either. There were never any outward signs of sickness. No redness around the gills, no labored breathing. They just stopped eating, and hid all the time. Only a few seem to be doing fine. Why some fish and not others? I just know something happened/or didn't happen while I was away for that one week last month. I know the ammonia tested 1.0 when I got home. I did a WC right away, but still my fish kept dieing. Now another one. I'm just sick inside..

Could a piece of driftwood that's still leaching after several months be the cause?

im sorry for the loss its so heartbreaking with all you have going on

no the driftwood wouldnt kill your fish..I have some thats been leaching for 7 months now..still even floats the darn thing

ammonia effects each fish different and sometimes has lasting effects until death..it doesnt always kill immediately ...keep up with the changes and the detoxifiers and I hope the rest make it !!

prime, amquel+ , or ammo lock are the 3 that seem to be readily available in different parts of the world...adding some stress coat will be a bonus... and fresh garlic juice (1-2 drops per gal) 2 times a week will help their immune system and boost their appetite..

Sorry for the loss of your parrot. I lost my first parrot (I still have his buddy) about a year and a half ago and I still feel bad about it.

I added some stress coat. I did see my other one take a little bite of FBS. But still not eating no where like he used to. He's so scared.....
I just feel terrible about this whole thing. I mean 6 fish in a month, all carefully chosen, I've had em all since they were babes. I just wanna cry...I look at the tank and it's sooooo different and I feel different about it. Even though I still have several of the originals left and I've added a couple since I just don't feel like my hearts there.....none of them even seem to like me anymore

good morning MizRamzi
Im so sorry to hear you lost your BR. Its very hard to feel good about fish keeping when you loose fish for no reason that you can find. Believe me, Ive been through that with the 'cursed' 29g tank a few years ago. It seemed that no matter what I put in there they never lasted very long and every day it was like who's gone this morning? I know how you feel...
Hang in there, you have done every thing you could.. now what ever is going on whether it was a mini cycle or an unknown.. things will stabilize. I will hope for the best for you and your remaining fishes...

WHAAAAAAA HOOOOOOOO My odder BP is finally coming out. She's been out pretty much all day. I just added Stress Coat+ last night. Could it have really worked that fast?

On the down side, (yes there is one) I'm missing a African Butterfly . Sadly I've noticed that my new Oscar is kind of fond of the one that's left. Ya think he could have killed it, and ate it? It was about 3" and Oscar is about 7".

I lost my 2 clown loaches and red tail shark before I left, then when I was 3 hours to go before I had to walk out the door of my house to deploy my african butterfly was dead too. So sorry to hear.
