| My poor kitty! My neighbor just knocked on my door, and my first though was... What on earth does my neighbor need at 8:00 am? I wasn't going to answer it because I thought it was rude for her to come over so early. Well I am so glad that my gut instinct kicked in and told me to answer it!
She wanted to tell my that my kitty was outside! Poor guy, he has never been outside a day of his life. I found him scared stiff, laying at the top of the stairs. He was so scared when I picket him up, he litterally turned toward me and dug his claws in so that he could hold on to me. He is such a tough kitty and I have never seen him so scared! He is so happy to be back inside the house. I guess last night when my husband opened a window, Tokyo climbed up on the screen and it fell out of the window frame. My hubby didn't realize the screen was gone when he closed the window later on. We deffinetly have to be more careful! I am so glad that nothing happened to him. We live on a very busy street where the speed limit is 50 MPH. We also have tons of possums, racoons, you name it! I am just thankful that he is in one piece |

| Thanks guys Me too! I was kind of wondering where he was earlier this morning, but he likes to sleep in some wierd hiding spots, so I just figured that was where he was. |

| Oh man!! None of my cats have ever been outside either! But I don't think they'd stick around the house, you're lucky you got him back! |

| wow, he was just sitting there? I can imagine him rocking back and forth muttering "it's too big, it's too big" over and over again. haha.
That's why you should always have your cats micro chipped and wearing a collar and ID tag (some people will just adopt "strays" without getting them checked for microchips). Most cat owners are like "my mittens never goes outside, why does he need a collar?"...well what if the screen falls out? hehe.
I let my cat out onto the balcony yesterday and turned my back for one second, next thing I knew he was trying to jump to the neighbors A/C unit (the neighbor below me), and then from there to the ground. I don't know what he'd do after that, run away? call for me? take a nap? |

| Hello MissMTS...glad to hear kitty is safe. Mine is 14 and has never been outdoors other than in her cage going to the vet. I'm sure yours is feeling much more safe, now that Mom knows where she is |

| Wow - I'm glad he's safe!!!!!! My 4 cats have never been outside either. Good thing his hunting instinct or curiosity didn't kick in - no telling if you would have seen him again!!!

| Thanks everyone He's back to normal and not freaked out any more. I feel very fortunate that he just stayed right outside our apartment. I do have him microchipped and he has a collar, but some people "adopt" strays whether or not they have identification on them. It was so strange to see him so scared. He is such a mischevious kitty and on top of that he is HUGE for a cat. He is always so confident (he's even dominant over our dog, lol), it was heartbreaking to see him so terrified and submissive. |

| You are so funny MissMTS. I totally thought the story was going to end in disaster! My cats are also indoor only, but one night my cousin and I walked home from the bar drunk as skunks and realized I'd dropped the keys along the way (absolutely amazing that we found them the next day). So we rolled around on the grass for a few hours and then decided to break in. We found a window unlocked, took the screen out, got in and passed out. Fat cat stayed in but adventurous kitty went out the open window. I woke up at 4am, realized I only had one cat, and proceeded to FREAK out, calling all over the neighborhood in the middle of the night. Almost as soon as I went back in fat cat starts hissing at the window and there is Mitts, begging to be let in. Glad your story ended well, too. |

He stopped, looked around, and then tore off to the neighbor's yard. I found him hiding in the smallest box he could possibly fit in. I'm pretty sure he just wasn't aware of how big "outside" was. He hasn't tried to go outside since. Last edited by sirdarksol; June 27th, 2009 at 09:59 AM.

| Thanks everyone
Sharkitty.... I was cracking up when I read your post What a funny story. I can just imagine you passed out on the couch and your kitty taking advantage of the situation. Your other kitty was probably trying to talk him out of it, lol.
I think its funny how all of our inside kitties are so eager to get outside, until they experience it for the first time, get flipped out, and then never want to go outside again! |

| My neighborhood is so cramped that I would be scared to let him out for fear he would get lost. On the upside (sort of) I acquired a cat here in Iraq named him Snickers he was hanging around me and stuff after about 2 weeks I took a video of this cat and how tame he was. After the day I took the video he vanished and I havent seen him since and that was about 3 weeks ago. |
