| My husband almost brought home a toddler...
I thought I would fall in the floor when he told me.. He came home in tears talking about a kid at the hospital, it was a year old and had multiple rib fractures, broken fingers, arm, black eyes and a huge gash on its head. Then it also had cig burns on the hand....
I don't know how someone could do that to a child!!! It kills me to think about. I feel bad having to punish my children, or even fuss at the dog for getting in trouble.
He said he hopes he never has to go pick a child up from a home like that, he would prob be in jail for murder (of the parents tht did it)
One of the nurses I work with is "fostering" the child for now... My husband told them to let them know if they didn't end up adopting, because we would... (he volunteered without my knowledge... you know me with 2 kids and one on the way)....
I know several people who don't have children because they cannot get pregnant. I am going to make some phone calls tomm. |

| geez that just gave me the chills.. recently something involving kis happened here too, a child daycare with about 170 babies burnt down killing teachers and babies, but your story is more tragic because it wasnt an accident.. hope those people get what they deserve. | |

Its awlful... The sad thing is we can't do anything about it since everytime someone mentions birth control, etc its "genocyde" or steryotyping people.
They don't see the neglect and abuse my husband and I see working in medicine. Even what I call "medical" neglect from being just plain "dumb" about when somethings wrong with there children. | |

It's become so common place that it's something you hear or read about seemingly everyday and the majority of the publics reaction is to look the other way.
When I was growing up in the early 70's, if something like this had taken place the entire neighborhood would've been after the person responsible and they would've paid. You don't see too much community involvement in absolutely inexcusable crimes these days. Like that guy who got beat by the crowd in Philly because he brutally raped an 11 year old girl a couple of weeks back. I'd bet my last dollar he will think twice before attempting it again. Some folks say that is the decline of civilization, I think to sit idly back and do nothing is the decline of civilization.
Yours and your husbands actions in this matter speak magnitudes for both of your characters. It makes me happy to know people like you still exist!!! | |

The public does look the other way too much these days. Id hate to think I could be mugged, etc out in public and instead of intervening they walk off like its not hteir problem
The other issue is the way the courts act. My husband witnessed a murder a few months back, first hand by sitting at a red light a guy pulled out a shotgun and killed a guy that had no weapon on him and his arms straight up in the air.. My husband didn't only witness it he was on duty so he had to go get the "patient" and try to revive him and take him to the er. Talk about traumatic! It got to the p oint with the defense lawyers they came to his workplace wanting work records etc on him and another guy. THey harrassed the out of them both. And for what? to say that a public offical didn't know what he saw. Lets just say the guy did a "plea bargin" yesterday the court day was supose to be tomm and he took vol manslaughter over murder 1.
As healthcare workers we don't "ignore" stuff, in fact we had classes on reconizing abuse and reporting it. I wish they made everyone take those classes. | |
