Wahoooo!

I just returned from next door, armed with ruler.

My new tank, is not a ten gallon. I HAVE FIFTEEN BEAUTIFUL GALLONS TO PLAY WITH! FIIFFFTEEEEEEEEEEEN!

It's solid glass, about fifteen years old though, I'll go over all the seams with aquarium silicone just to make sure.

THEN I SHALL BASK IN IT'S GLORY!

I've been supplied with a 100W heater, a HOB filter, a corner filter/ mega water polisher and bubble wand, along with lots of gravel.

To be fair, I don't really like the gravel, but what's an extra $5 on top of a free tank and goodies?

The heater might be dead though, it's been in a garage inside the tank for the past who-knows-how-long. So a new one won't be too much of a set back.

Anyway, this half belongs in the stocking part, but still.

I'm thinking 4-6 bloodfin tetras. I might add my other tetras fish though, and two or three panda corys.

OR

I put in my male guppy (They might be Endler's though...) collection, I've got three at the moment, about 1.5" including tail. And three or four panda corys.

Anyone got any ideas what I do with the b-e-a-u-tiful piece of tank?

Are you planning on doing a leak test? New silicone won't adhere well to old silicone, so I don't think it will help much to go over the existing seals. If you want to re-seal your tank, you must first strip off all the old seals from the inside of the tank, clean up any residual silicone with rubbing alcohol, and apply the new silicone. How do the seals look now? If they look ok, and your tank holds water for a few days, I probably wouldn't bother.

Ah, fair point. The only reason it was taken out of commission is because the owner was getting very ill with lung cancer and emphysema, and couldn't get upstairs. I'm assuming it's safe. Just a wee bit worried as it's been in the garage for ages (He was diagnosed in 1999, he died in January this year)
So now his widow wants me to have it, she says it's fine, and the seals looked fine, I'm just a little wary as it hasnt been in use for 4 years.
