| I've Gone Insane!!!!!!!!! i just bought a 7 inch tall black marbled angelfish (male). it was priced at $42.95 but i got it for $20.95!!!!! i also got a free BN pleco and 2 free plants so really it was only $8!!!! my tank is now overstocked big time, so i am going to have get rid of a few of my smaller fish like my danios and guppies etc.
i was going to order in one of these (but only 2 or 3 inches tall) any way and move my guppies into a 15 gallon tank but that 15 g isn't vacant right now. he is in my 50 g now. he was housed in a tiny 10 gallon tank with an oscar and another angel so i thought if buying him i could give him a slightly larger home. i hope this is big enough, i will most definitely get rid of some fish. it has been in the shop for a while they said and no one was interested.
a quick question, what's the best pH for angels? Last edited by Bad Wolf; June 5th, 2009 at 10:26 AM.

| Hello. As long as Angels are acclimated properly they should adapt to the water that we have to provide ( chlorine removed of course). They are very sensitive to water conditions. Just keep an eye on everything. (if you really need some numbers I would suggest 7.0 to 8.0 would be great) Take care! |

| He will probably be fine Give him time to adapt to his new surroundings. You may even want to turn the lights off for a while and let him relax. Add some Prime or Nova Aqua for stress would be good. Hope you send us some pictures of your new addition. |

| Good choice. I think he'll do very well in there. Quote: |

| Aw man that's awful. No wonder he looks kinda rough.
I'd be hiding, too. He's safe now, tho. Quote: |
so i thought if buying him i could give him a slightly larger home.
| You have saved his life.
Clean water and good diet will bring him right around.
Congrats on your purdy new angel!

| i just fed all the fish before, he had only a few nips, well because he's new. he's already showing more shine in his skin. i will add some stress coat today and may do a small water change. he's really peaceful and shows no aggression to any other fish in the tank. my rainbow shark is a bit curious of the new angel. he doesn't know what to make of this giant.
i let you know how he is at the end of the day and tomorrow. |

| How's the new angel sweetie doing today?
It will probably be shy for a while, that's ok, tho.
He's the new guy in the tank, so it'll take a bit.

| Personally, I've always used the method of fasting the tank for a couple days so everybody is hungry and willing to take food, especially when I introduce any newcomers to the tank. |

| yes, i like him so much that he's my avatar.
he's still not eating. when he was at the pet shop he had a friend (another angel) who lived with him for a year or 2. is there a chance he misses him and doesn't want to eat because of that?
thanx |

| He may well miss his friend. If you're able to trade some fish in, maybe you could get the friend? |

| I did have to go back with my koi's and get his mate ....after 2 days I could tell they were lonely apart..but you must have room for them before doing that or both could be hurt and other fish could be killed if they are a m/f pair |

| oh dear. if he doesn't start eating soon, should i get him his friend? he was at the pet shop only for 1 day and he was eating, but now he's been in this tank for 4 days.
my tank is already a bit over stocked, but i do have a 15 gallon tank that all my little fish were supposed to go into, but i still haven't found anyone to adopt my axolotl.
i really don't know what to do. |

| Maybe search craigslist for tank supplies for another tank for the Axolotl? I don't know much about them or their requirements, but maybe another tank is needed for now. :/ |

| Interesting, I've never heard of them before, but found this on "about.com" Quote:
A Tank for Axolotls
Axolotls can get quite large, so I would recommend at least a 15-20 gallon tank, although the tank doesn't have to be full - just deeper than the full length of the axolotl. Most owners will find a filtered aquarium easier to maintain; without a filter their water will need frequent changing. However, the filtration rate should be fairly slow and avoid powerful filters that create strong currents. The filter intake should not be in a position to trap the gills. A siphon can be used to vacuum the bottom of the tank, and a 20 percent water change should be done weekly. If you are not using a filter, you will have to do a 20% water change every day or every other day. Never do a full water change as this creates a situation where the water chemistry changes too drastically.
Tap water should have any chlorine or chloramines (added during the water treatment process) removed using commercially available solutions. Never use distilled water. The pH of the water should be 6.5-7.5.
Gravel
If gravel is used on the bottom of the tank it needs to be coarse gravel. Fine gravel might be ingested during feeding. Some keepers simply leave the bottom of the tank bare, although others believe this may stress the axolotls a bit since they can't get a foothold on the bottom that way.
Temperature and Lighting
The tank should be kept in a cool room away from bright sunlight. The water temperature should be kept cool, between 57-68 F (14-20 C), and never above 75 F (24 C). No special lighting is required, and in fact a place to get out of the light may be appreciated, such as a half flower pot or aquarium type castle.

| If you live near a petsmart, I know they have a 20g tank with everything included (even the heater!) that's being sold for a pretty good price. |
