My luck.. I got a call from the doctor this morning

After being stressed out over Carson getting tubes in his ear next week, I had a dr's appt on memorial day of all days. They did the glucose tolerence testing. I was already ticked over the goose egg hematoma left where the doctor stuck my wrist since getting blood from me is a chore.
Then I found out this morning I failed the test. So add gestational diabetes to the gestational high blood pressure.....
Im over it! I didn't have any of those issues with my other pregnancies or not being pregnant.

For the next three days I have to "load" carbs in my body so they can do a different glucose test. I guess that will be the only thing I will enjoy.
A diet that includes cake as a eating option with meals, eat all the bread I want, etc...

Well there is one good side to it...or maybe two. First off apparently it is just a pregnancy thing and that will not last forever and second what a great three days you are going to have with all the carbs...yummy, cake, cookies, desserts, all the bread you want. Just look at what you will get in the end...a gorgeous baby. You just get tested a bit on the way to getting the baby. Good luck dear I will be thinking of you in my prayers.

the sci-fi nerd in me wonders how long we have to wait for the birthing factories and be done with all this childbirth business...hehehe.

I'm sure you'll manage just fine, moms can do anything.

Awww sorry for the bad news Angela. You'll get through it. Its almost over, and when it is, you'll have a beautiful new baby and the pregnancy will be behind you. On the bright side, have fun eating all the yummy foods I would eat like that constantly if gaining weight weren't an issue

Thanks, The not so fun part is the massive sugar rush I have to have going through me ends friday where I have to go to no sugar/carbs as much as possible to control the sugar issues.

Thats two things that I never had issues with, my blood pressure and my blood sugar and now I have both, just for pregnancy but its weird to me.

Ill be happy to get this over with!

Is there diabetis in your family?? Not to be a party pooper but keep an eye on your sugar after the preg is over. a lot of gestational diabetics go on to become diabetic later on in life. ( ducks cuz she knows how hormonal preg women can be) . Just something to be aware of later down the line.

Diabetes isn't a family trait with us. My aunt had it but it was caused by massive liver issues (she had hemochromotosis) it damages the liver, pancreas, and kidneys.
My normal blood sugar after eating breakfast, and pigging out before this was 60-70.
