We are now sitting at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing Mi,with my son. Who has been in remission from leukemia for the past 2 1/2 years. Friday we took him to the Dr's as he hasn't quit been himself. Saturday we drove 8hrs to get here. It's now Sunday and we're waiting for *them* to come and take him down for a bone marrow biopsy.
I've yet to cry although the fear is like nothing I've ever felt. I refuse to let him see me that way. We almost lost him during his battle with the disease. 2yrs of radiation and chemo. Then came a bone marrow transplant. That wasn't supposed to work. It was an unknown doner, not even a match, from another country. But it did work and he's been in remission since. It's supposed to be very very uncommon for the cancer to come back after being in remisson for such a long period of time. So they suspect it may be another form.
Please pray for him.......

It is back!!! 90% Blastoma cells in his bones. They are so hard that it took them an hour just to find a soft enough spot to get the sample. Tuesday he goes in to have a port put into his chest again. Then massive agressive chemo. I don't know how long we'll be here. I want to take him home NOW! I DON'T WANT THIS NO MORE. HE'S BEING SO BRAVE! HE'S BRAVER THEN ME! I'M SOOOOOOO ANGRY!
Not yet 3 years ago I lost my sister (48yrs old) to cancer. IT'S HORRIBLE!!! I'M SCARED. I DON'T WANT HIM TO GO THROUGH THIS. GOD I DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY SON..........

I am so sorry to hear about your bad news I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong, you never know what can happen. My grandpa had melanoma that was spread all over his body and they gave him 6 months to live. They did a very aggressive experimental treatment on him and now he has been in remission for 8 years. You guys can get through this. We are all here for you if you ever need to talk

i'm so sorry to hear that one of my good friends has leukemia, and i can't describe or understand how hard it is on her and her family. best of luck to you, your son, and the rest of your family.

The port is in. Now we wait. Jack had his bone marrow transplant in Texas and the Dr's here are trying to contact them so they can come up with a plan on how to attack this cancer. It is the same as before though. Guess one or two cells got away.....we're all praying that, third time's the charm.
I want to thank everyone here at FL. It's nice knowing that in a town of strangers I have some not so strangers to talk to about this.
Talk about having MTS though. They have 3 tanks here. One of which is in the childs playroom. The tank Looks HORRIBLE! I've already asked if they could use some help in getting it cleaned up I was told that the guy who cares for the tanks comes in every other Thursday. He's doing nothing as far as I can see with the tanks. I mean they are almost totally blacked out with algae. The fish I did see were almost stationary, even the Flying Foxes.
I've found my excape for now.......
